Fox Tries To Debunk Global Warming, Fails Miserably

In an article titled, "Five Reasons the Planet May Not Be Its Hottest Ever," sought to debunk the fact that Earth has warmed over the past 30 years, as well as the notion that human activity has contributed to the warming. But Fox largely igno

Fox apparently has seen what is going on with the weather the past few years. My NUT neighbor is riding this train, as I try to explain how the big snows that we have had is due to more moisture / polar melting.
Somehow... He thinks the earth is creating more moisture? Defies the "you can't create nor destroy matter" theory, but Foxs' folks can change the (millions of years) rules of physics. May Fox, just like the cowboy, ride off into the sunset never to be seen again.

FOX just supports the corporations that keep exploiting the resources of the world without any conscience. What would be wrong about being better stewards of this planet? They keep trying to debunk a theory, which is actually distracting from the main point: our planet is in trouble. They have no answers for anything.

There is a promise from God that as long as the earth remains that there will not be a global warming that will stop the seasons or the cold or the harvesting of fields. It may get warmer in the course of things but it will never do to the earth what the forecasters of global warming are predicting. How can I believe this? I believe this simply because the Lord has given us his word in the Bible. After the flood God made a number of promises in a covenant that he made with Noah. The following scripture is part of this covenant.

Genesis 8:21: And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22: While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

God's Word is the same yesterday, today and forever... People who believe Al Gore is just making him a millionaire with his new home that cost millions and I doubt it is energy saving... LOL

I will have to watch the FOX report myself - I have listened to enough credible scientists to know that not everyone accepts global warming as a valid event caused by humans - it has been happening long before humans ever entered into the picture. That being said, I am not against trying to do things better, with less pollution - I am interested in electric cars (though this is not "totally green" either) hybrids, regular bicycles, etc - but I am still damn grateful for my 99 Mustang six cylinder!
So much of this is simply about power - pure and simple. The government telling you exactly what you will or won't be able to use, or do. You had better believe the elite will do as they want - the goal is for us the sheeple to do as the elite wants.

I don't regularly watch Fox News and I did not see this show. But I have to chuckle at ridiculous comments like "It appears that Fox is loosing it's power" and "May Fox, just like the cowboy, ride off into the sunset never to be seen again."
Latest ratings from January 27 - During Primetime Fox News ratings equaled the ratings of all other cable news networks COMBINED and had over twice the ratings as the next highest - MSNBC.
Beck's ratings were even better. He garnered 14% MORE than all other networks COMBINED and over 2-1/2 times Hardball's Matthews in the same time slot.
As far as earnings, Fox News was the brightest spot on the latest News Corp earnings report with a 17% jump in revenues. It is MySpace and the internet businesses that are hurting News Corps earnings although they still earned $1.15 billion in operating profit.

Denial about a problem that is so obviously looming is not only dysfunctional but dangerous. The motive that FOX must have for trying to convince people that global warming is a myth must be that they are supporting the corporate polluters and big oil. I hope that people can see through the smoke and mirrors of FOX and simply stop watching it. Ignorance is not bliss when the planet is falling apart. Fox doesn't have the brain power to debunk anything. I think they have done irreparable harm to their brains by spending day after day lying and misconstruing stories into unrecognizable pieces of junk. When I think of Fox, I think reality show gone wrong, misinformation, the religious right, crying, blackboards, lectures, whining, cockroaches, snakes, rats. "Five Reasons the Planet May Not Be Its Hottest Ever" - even Fox's article title is ridiculous. Of course the planet isn't at its hottest temperature ever. Hardly the point. The climate is already disrupted enough to be killing millions per year.

When will enough be enough? When it's too late, I'm afraid. The only way we can stop it is by taking matters into our own hands. We have to stop buying things we don't need. Our consumption habits are what drives all of our environmental and most of our economic problems.

The almighty buck can get people to say all kinds of nonsense. This is the same sort of bunk like the scientists whose studies show that Round Up is harmless, that cigarettes don't cause cancer, etc. God gave me a brain and I use it everyday. Just having 7 billion people on the planet breathing, cooking, raising animals to eat, driving, heating our houses, living in houses with dark roofs, cutting down endless forests, . . . . . . . will make the Earth warmer. Anyone who can't figure that out, . . . . I guess there are a lot of them and they will bring doom to all of us. Maybe God will get it right next time and either not create homo sapiens or create us only 12" tall.

Dear God, how could the FCC the ICC, the FBI, DOD, CIA, CBO, and National Security Agency allow these mindless thugs from Fox Noise go on with their purposeful lies. The planet is disintergrating around us and these morons are blathering on like there is nothing to be concerned about. I am sick of their lies. Do they not realize that there is not a single CEO of a big oil or a coal company that does not recognize the danger that we are in right now???? What is Rupert Murdock want? He is black mailing every single American. He is a traitor to his country, to his profession and to all of humanity. A worthless soul who devotes all of his energy to a sick sadistic practice. I know he must have enough money now...It has to be that he has gone completely mad. A nut which is jepordizing the health and well being of millions. For the love of God these dammmed agencies need to earn their money and go after this liar and stop him before he causes any more damage. He is a pathetic example of what happens when people look the other way and he builds on his repritoie and no body has the courage to stand up to these thugs. That blathering idiot Bill Oriely does not scare me. He can call me out but at the end of the day, I stand up to the insanity that he and his goons are proposing as gospel. I doubt seriously that God hire Fox Noise to destroy the planet. In fact, I think it was the other guy. Someone in our weak pathetic overpaid government needs to take a stand and stop this crazy man before it is too late. This is the Rubicon all over again. We can stand down and allow these men to dictate to real scientist what they think is going to get their friends in big oil off the hook for destroying the planet. We do not have time for these ruthless money grubbing liars to stifle the voice of real scientist. James Inhuff of Oklahoma is a clear example of the great lengths these men will go to derail any regulations. A man who barely has a GED from BerryHill high School is now suddenly smarter than the top 100 scientist in the world. He hails from a state that relies principally on oil for its livilihood. He is under the impression that if he does not sit on the committee and disrupt the proceedings then change will occur. He gets more than a half million dollars a year from the big oil companies to pervert the democratic process. These men are evil incarnations of Satan himself. I am not here to judge them. It is up to God to do what he pleases with a group of men that is under the false impression that God sent them down here to destroy his creation. I am affraid. I see all of these things happeing just like the climate scientist predicted they would and if anything they were too cautious in their estimation of the potential damage this would cause. We are in deep trouble here. If somthing is not done the fate of humanity lies in the balance. I kid you not we may very well be the next extinct life form on planet earth.

Aside from the fact that the price of oil is bankrupting our country as we barrow billions from the Chinese to pay countries who would like nothing more than to destroy us. It is sickening and sad at the same time. We are now fighting a war that costs the American people 2-3 billion dollars a month to operate. A way that was started with the outright lies of then Vice President Dick Chenny. He tricked the American people into attacking a country that was not a threat to us. The men at the top should be behind bars for the the suffering they have caused regarding service men but the 443,000 Iraqi civilians who have been killed or forced to leave their own country. We have lost over 4300 brave men and women in the Armed Forces of the United States. We did so based on a lie. This madness has to stop. We claim that we are a Christian nation. What Christian nation declares war on a country that was not a threat to the United States, then to add injury to insult Dick Chenny orders them to be water boarded. Yes, torture to have these innocent people lie and claim there were really bad weapons in Iraq. I know that Jesus did not nor does he have a dark side that would allow him to do what Dick Chenny has done against the people of Iraq. Sahara Palin went on to say that they the people of Iraq hate us because of our freedom. No, what a huge lie. They hate us because we declared war on their country to go and steal their oil. Our so called Christian nation lied and murdered people for oil. That is not the work of a Christian nation. We were once the beakon of hope to many nations around the world. Now we are in the same catagory of Hitler, Stalin, Musolini and Gangis Khan. I am sorry but there is not defence to this behavior. If a man did this to another man he may get the death penalty. We did it to an entire country. I am totally disquested with the bobble heads in this country who have allowed these evil men to pervert our democracy. May God have mercy on all of us. I hope that I am not arround to see the coming dissaster. It scares me just thinking about it.

The words 'global warming' seem to confuse some people - that may be why the phrase was changed to 'climate change'. It means while the earth in general is getting warmer, some parts of the world are experiencing colder conditions. In my state of Western Australia, we have hot, dry conditions, while on the other side of Oz thay have had severe flooding.

And is it not possible that the cause can be both man-made and natural? Perhaps we are exacerbating something which is happening anyway.

Fox have a serious problem in separating their fantasy film making from their factual? news coverage.
I would suggest that they concentrate their energies on just one venture as they obviously do not have the expertise, or intelligence, to run such combinations without suffering from the resulting confusion and leaving themselves open to well deserved derision.

Jae - which Global Warming do you refer?
Manmade Global Warming?
“The change which has taken place in our climate is one of those facts which all men of years are sensible of and yet none can prove by regular evidence. They can only appeal to each other’s general observation for the fact.

I remember that when I was a small boy, say sixty years ago, snows were frequent and deep in every winter, to my knee very often, to my waist sometimes, and that they covered the earth long. And I remember while yet young to have heard from very old men that in their youth the winters had been still colder, with deeper and longer snows. In the year 1772, thirty-seven years ago, we had a snow two feet deep in the Champain parts of this state, and three feet in the counties next below the mountains . . .

“While I lived at Washington, I kept a Diary, and by recurring to that I observe that from the winter of 1802-03 to that of 1808-09 inclusive, the average fall of snow of the seven winters was only 14½ inches, and that the ground was covered but sixteen days in each winter on average of the whole. The maximum in any one winter during that period was 21 inches fall, and 34 days on the ground, the minimum was 4½ inches fall and two days on the ground . . .!

“Williams in his history of Vermont has an essay on the change in the climate of Europe, Asia and Africa.”
Thomas Jefferson in a letter to Philadelphia physician and professor Nathaniel Chapman dated Dec. 11, 1809, nine months after he left the presidency.

Climate change crusaders, infantrists and alarmists insist that the earth is warming largely due to the emission of greenhouse gases by motor vehicles and factories.

But Thomas Jefferson wrote about global warming back in the early 19th century, before there were any emissions from cars, coal-fired power plants, and other developments of the Industrial Age.

I see this article attracted the conspiracy fringe and deniers. Sure there are some scientists, most of no acclaim, that deny climate change and who signs their pay checks? There is nothing new about any of this, we have been warned for the last 40+ years but now the weather is reflecting the facts.

If there are snow storms we must not be suffering from global warming...look up the difference between weather and climate.

This "debate" is not about climate change nor the many problems humans are suffering or will suffer. This has become a challenge by those owned 100% by various corporate entities that make their fortunes through the one dirty business or another. It's more profitable to continue to pollute the environment and pay a few "hack scientists" then to just shut up and clean up the mess. This is not really a debate, it's Bull Turds on one side and Facts on the other.

Fox is for those who are already brain dead and like it that way. Don't bother them with reality, fantasy is more comfortable.

Victoria S (19)

"I find it interesting that Morris G talked about Fox's rating but he didn't defend them for spewing lies on a daily, or well, hourly basis."
Not my job to defend them. Since I rarely watch them I cannot really answer to what extent they may or may not be lying - or more accurately representing a position you do not agree with. Nevertheless who is the judge of what is the "truth" or what is a "lie"? The 1st Amendment protects Fox's (and NBC, CNN, etc) right to do what they do just like it protects what Obama, you, and in fact this website.. I think it is safe to say all of you have a remote control to change the channel as I do. So what the heck do you CARE what is on Fox?
Although you won't admit it here is why you care:
You believe you a smarter than everyone else. You believe that you can make your own decision as to what the "truth" is but nobody else has the brains to do so. You believe Fox's ratings are high because everyone else is an idiot while you are a genius. And it drives you crazy that more people actually watch their channel than the ones you approve of
Well that is called arrogance. Not only that it is dangerous to restrict other peoples right of expression just because you believe you know what they ought to hear and what they ought to believe.
Personally I have a little more faith in the people of this country than you do. They are not in fact stupid. They know everything they hear from Fox, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, and even Obama is not always the "truth."

Jae: Manmade Global Warming?
Dr. Adolf Hoel Spitsbergen expedition
Arctic appears to warm up
Reports from fishermen/seal hunters/researchers who sail the sea round Svalbard/eastern part of Arctic, all point to radical change in climate conditions & hitherto completely unknown to high temperatures
ice conditions exceptional
fact is we have so little ice, never been recorded

Hoel made a cross section of Gulf Stream at 81°N latitude, would have measured depths of 3,100M
these show the Gulf Stream very warm it can be pursued in parallel as a surface current towards the 81°
warmth of the water makes it likely that favourable ice conditions continue for some time

many landscapes have changed are no longer recognizable
where there are large masses of ice were, are now moraines, earth accumulations & stones
in many places where once the glacier towered far into the sea, they are completely gone

temperature change, says Captain I, also changed flora & fauna in Arctic
this summer he was looking for white fish around Spitsbergen
previously, there were large flocks of them
this year, he saw none, although searched all his old fishing grounds
there were a few seals in the waters around Spitsbergen this year & the catch was well below average
he pointed out the waters around Spitsbergen else had a consistent summer temperature of 3°C
This year, measured temperatures of up to 15°C / last winter sea is frozen not even on the N coast of Spitsbergen
Issue of summer 1922 printed in 2. Nov` 22 Washington Post

LMAO at Morris and his transparency. Like the libertarian that voted for bush. I'm not one of those republicans. Or the guy that only watches fox noise. "I rarely watch them I cannot really answer to what extent they may or may not be lying - or more accurately representing a position you do not agree with." Really?
The position they represent is corporate fascism. Intelligent people of the middle class know this, resent it and don't lie about it. People that belong to "the club", dance in circles as to confuse you as to who they really are but we're not fooled.
Wake up, Morris and Sharon. This is a real university study under the watch and grading of a real professor...
* 91 percent believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs
* 72 percent believe the health reform law will increase the deficit
* 72 percent believe the economy is getting worse
* 60 percent believe climate change is not occurring
* 49 percent believe income taxes have gone up
* 63 percent believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts
* 56 percent believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout
* 38 percent believe that most Republicans opposed TARP
* 63 percent believe Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear)

Fox has never been the station for factual information, as their bias influences their reporting to a great extent. Religion, the Tea Party Republicans, Big Business, such as the Koch brothers, run their agenda.

When you permit religion to run YOUR agenda, it is the same as having a dictator (fascism). They want to rule, as they _perceive_, what is the word of God.

Now, isn't that a clever way to get what you want?
The saddest part of all, is they attract many foolish disciples to follow them.
These foolish disciples want to tell you how to run your life.
When they say they want to restrict the power of government, don't believe these deceptions. They want government to restrict your right to think for yourself.
The only restrictions they want, are limitations on helping our less fortunate citizens, keeping them poor, in order to serve THEM.

It is extremely captivating how some, on this site, acutally think they use their brains, when speaking.
I'm not suggesting that people are stupid, rather, that they speak, due to their bias, without reasoning, first.

Climate change is an accumulation of temperatures around our planet. That is the only measurable method to ascertain a consensus of opinion. This cannot be debated. The only thing to debate is, THE CAUSE.

Climate change is happening, not due to the number of inches of snow, in one area, and extreme heat in another.
_HEADS_, my friends, we must use our heads!

At the end of the day, truth and critical thinking are essential to a democracy. Spin and manipulation must be called out and revealed at every point. Diverging views and dialog are a core part of an open society, Propaganda is not.

I like to tell people that don't believe in climate change/global warming to go to the garage, close all the doors and windows (atmosphere?) and start their car. Now, imagine a billion cars running out there in the big garage.

Maybe watch melting of the arctic on youtube.

Liberals are right again! :) Could it be, we have most of it right?

Charlene, The fascist right would be nowhere without the Xtian, fear, freedom bots. They'd just be a blip on the radar as the social party is today.
The only thing "they" need to appease them with is fear, abortion and the unity in their Hate of their definition of "socialism" and liberal people. None of them get what they want, what's good for them or their tax dollars worth. The 92% fascist owned media does that foot work for huge $sumS.

Noted. Shared. Climate change includes Global warming, and global change. It goes along with thinking in many religions and "wise people's" thoughts that there will be changes on the earth. It makes sense to help out people and the earth and all that lives on the earth -- to help one another. Science has the same theme -- that here are changes happening to the earth.

It makes no difference whether FOX News reports real facts or not... their audience swallows everything they say as gospel truth anyway.
