About time - but - are apologies enough??? Just look at the way these people have been made to live - more attempts by the government ought to have been made to give them help before this - not just by the few who took the plight of the aborigines to heart and tried their best to help them. Everyone has the right to be the best that they possibly can - and everyone needs help along the way.

JO they get Government housing, cars, centrelink benefits if they are not working, aboriginal teens get ABSTUDY at 13yrs whereas whites get it at 16yrs and is income tested on parents. They do get a lot of preferences here in Australia above others but I am not being racist, it is just a fact.. Even when you fill out a form here for something it asks if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island to fast-track applications or let the Government know to put it in the urgent process list................Just some facts that all as I said I am not racist.

I wondeer if I get a SORRY. I'm white and was taken off my Mother (with 4 other siblings). I was three and the youngest. I spent 13 years in a children's home. This home was at least 300 kms away from our Mother and as the transport system was non existent we hardly ever saw her. She managed to come to Perth to get work and be closer to us. We were still at least 100 kms away. I'm happy with my life and have a wonderful husband whom I would not have met in other circumstances.

Dymond you are unbelieveble!! The fact that you can see the plight of the original people of the land that you now call home, compare it to your own and think there are the same suggest to me, you are a truly vile individual.

Hirst, as far as I'm concerned, that's the least they could get. Until they are fully embraced by society; economically, politically and socially then non-indiginous groups have no right to moan.

Andrew I see you don't understand the meaning of this is for the stolen generation...goes back years and former Governments have refused to Apologise...this is a step forward for Aussies both white and Aboriginals..............
