It's so horrific that it's hard to believe it's true: a 15 year old rape survivor has been sentenced to 100 lashes for "fornication" in the Maldives. Flogging sentences for fornication are all too common in the Maldives, please sign & share this thanks.

The traumatised girl was allegedly sexually abused by her step-father for many years. He has since been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. During the investigation however, authorities came across evidence to support separate charges of fornication against the girl for pre-marital sex.
Flogging sentences for fornication are all too common in the Maldives -- and the victims are almost invariably women. When visiting the country in 2011, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay called flogging "one of the most inhumane and degrading forms of violence against women". She called on the Maldives to stop this barbaric practise.
Demand the Maldivian government overturn this disgraceful sentence.
With this story provoking outrage across the world, help send a clear message that flogging is unacceptable regardless of the circumstances.
