Palestinian schoolchildren in the Gaza Strip have been denied the opportunity to learn about human rights. The response to an attempt by UNRWA to include a course on human rights in schools run by the agency.

Unbelievable. Then again perhaps not.

There can never be peace in the Middle East until such poisonous bigotry is swept away.

Yet Israel bombs what would be considered neutral schools by everyone and then puts out animated BS propaganda to justify what it would do anyway. So it is a nation of liars, perhaps even lying in David's propaganda piece as well. Yep, that's bigotry being swept, or actually bombed onto others alright. :(

Clean your own house first.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) denies allegations made online by the IDF Spokesperson that Palestinian militants are using UNRWA schools or facilities in Gaza to fire rockets into Israel.

On 17 November 2012 at 22:16, the Israeli Defense Forces tweeted from their official Twitter account (@IDFSpokesperson) a link to a video hosted on their official YouTube channel, featuring an animated film that depicts militants firing rockets from a school clearly marked with the UNRWA insignia.

UNRWA is concerned about the creation and use of footage that wrongly suggests that UNRWA is allowing its premises to be used for terrorist activities in the current conflict and the unauthorised use of its logo in computer-generated material. In a situation of conflict these allegations have potentially grave consequences. UNRWA takes with utmost seriousness the neutrality of its installations, particularly in times of heightened violence.

UNRWA is big business and wants to continue to operate. So, of course, they will say and/or do anything to keep operating. And why not if the West is willing to foot the bill. More money is poured into UNRWA then to all UN refugee causes in the world combined Syd, keep enjoying the propaganda from UNRWA. I will continuing enjoying the contributions of Israel to make a better world in the fields of agriculture, computer technology, medicine, etc. By the way you also enjoy them, but do not want to admit it.

UNWRA is illegally making Palestinians refugees when they should be residents of the countries in which they have lived for 4 or 5 generations. The Muslim controlled countries will not allow them to become citizens.

I should also say that the EU Court of Human Rights has found Islam incompatible with the UN Human Rights Convention on several occasions. However, enforcing this decision was difficult because of danger to the public. Says it all really.

I will say it again..the innocent young children of Palestine are totally innocent and have nothing but love to share..UNTIL the adults get a hold of their fragile little minds and turn them into monsters!!

Brainwash them when they are young is when evil has an opportunity to use religion to rule other's. What is sad is to see some brainwashed people living in free-countries.

First they fire rockets into Israel who isn't supposed to retaliate ? Then when Israel does....Hamas purposely puts civilians in the area so then they can point fingers.. Are we going to support a democracy and free people like Israel.....or Hamas who was elected by muslims in Palestine.

Why, Syd. "David's propaganda" you say? Discounting God's word, which is humanity's only standard of absolute truth. What do you have left? Oh yes, hatred of your neighbor and love of your think-alike tribe. The Kool-Aid Drinkers, perhaps?

muslims must be isolated and kept away from all others. they can't and won't live with others and do their best to kill anybody that isn't one of them. islam will never be for human rights since all they advocate is making women cattle and killing.

why am i not surprised? i guess there is a level of predictable consistency here. if hamas encouraged teaching of human rights (which of course runs counter to their basic tenets and behaviour in all things), THAT would be worthy of a headline.

“Hamas does not want Palestinian children to learn about civil rights heroes such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. These people were opposed to violence and therefore their ideology, according to Hamas, is in violation of Palestinian and Islamic culture.”

Unfortunately, Hamas wants to raise only warmongering children and not peacemakers!

Seems to me our own government isn't in favor of human rights.

They want to keep the rights for themselves alone.

Yup: Hamas' schools are full-blown indoctrination-centers. I wish this weren't still news to anyone.

Noted. I read another care2er's comment. Reminded me of the PBS special on the old Broadway show "The King and I". All about racial prejudices and hatred; very real for the earlier part of the 19002 in America. In fact, as I think about it, its writer was a Jew. One song contains the lyric "you've got to be taught to hate..." We teach our children these things. I personally believe that they aren't foreign to any of us. But it's worth a search of the snow. I'm not a complete idiot but, as an American in her later 50's , it's hard to imagine growing up with no concept of human rights....it's saddening and horrifying....
