Use of child labor not stopped by police in Gaza, where children's "nimble bodies" help dig the tunnels that lead into Israel and Egypt.

Hamas used children to help them dig numerous tunnels into Israel and Egypt, a 2012 paper written for the Journal of Palestine Studies reported.

The paper, titled Gaza's Tunnel Phenomenon: The Unintended Dynamics of Israel's Siege says that little had been done to stop the phenomenon of child labor during the digging of the tunnels by Hamas in Gaza.

In December 2011, the paper's author Nicolas Pelham accompanied a police patrol in Gaza and reported that "nothing was done to impede the use of children in the tunnels, where, much as in Victorian coal mines, they are prized for their nimble bodies."

He continued and said that "at least 160 children have been killed in the tunnels, according to Hamas officials."

Since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge 21 days ago, IDF forces have uncovered 31 tunnels leading into Israel.

More than 1,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children, have been killed during the offensive.

One more example of how little these animals care about human life.

Yes, but the Islamic and Leftist media, Arab street, doesn't care how many children die as long as Palestinians kill other Palestinians, just if Israelis do it.

Absolutely disgusting. However, I'm not surprised. Life means nothing to radical Muslims. They use their own kids as human shields. Says it all. Thanks David.

Allan, please don't call these monsters 'animals'. It's an insult to the animal kingdom. I'm certainly not having a go at you, as I'm on your side. I'm just defending my beloved animals. Thanks again David.

Correct Rhonda! So given all of this, what does it say about the many people on this site who support these monsters?? Makes one wonder...

Noted The world will never be in peace due to these sub-human officials in these countries and this includes Ukraine, Russia, Iraq, Israel, Gaza. Only the good die young and this is what happens with these indignant wars. Who cares and what does it matter what race, what religion, what political stand they have I say mind your own and you won't have any problems. But these countries can't do that, it is against their beliefs, their kids don't come first not for the ones who stayed behind, their belief's come first. The ones who flee these countries are the ones who don't want to live in these beliefs, their families come first. It is despicable the amount of people who have lost their lives in the last 3 weeks over degenerates, innocent lives. Disgraceful

They just managed to kill 6 Israeli civilians and injured at least 4 more. I guess they are very happy now. It's really crazy over here. They asked for a cease fire and have been shooting missiles all day, while the IDF have not attacked.

In that part of the world mothers are encouraged to produce as many kids as possible so that there is an endless supply of young "martyrs" to help annihilate the kaffurs.

Child labor anywhere is abominable ~ just as killing innocent children is. Israel too needs to stop its atrocities.

The killing of civilians on both sides of this conflict is tragic in the extreme. But it is clear to me that one side has very little value for human, and even children's life. While the other has gone to great pains to show restraint and try to minimize civilian casualties. War is a horrible thing. Leadership that provokes war in an attempt to gain sympathy from the world, by creating conditions where their own people will get killed, is the most despicable sort of leadership I can imagine.

The irony - very obvious if one reads the original article (dating from 2012) from which one tiny excerpt has been used here - is that it is Israel's seige/ blockage policy that has driven up poverty - leading to child labour - and the need for tunnels to bring in essentials blocked above ground, which represent extremely hazardous labour for the children who go to work in them .. because they and their families desperately need some income. (NB - it is not a question of forcing them down under threat ... but options for paid work is limited, with the blockade in place).Irresponsibility concerning security under ground is attributable to Hamas; blame for the presence of child labour must be spread more widely - including the creation of conditions through the total blockade.

The full article is an excellent analysis, worth reading: Gaza's Tunnel Phenomenon: The Unintended Dynamics of Israel's Siege

Much of the violence between groups of people starts with young people and works its way up the ranks to adults May the children rest in loving arms of the most high
