Peoplehood is given primacy over faith for the sake of the faith itself: The Jewish people is the carrier of Judaism. The anti-Zionist assault is the notion that the Jews aren't a people but only a faith denying right to national sovereignty.

That's how it works. First you're marginalized, then you're erased.

Any person with Jewish blood is part of that sacred land irrespective of religious belief and will always remain that, the same as our own indigenous people are part of this ancient land and no matter where they are will always be part of it.

rewriting jewish history won't actually change it, just as the IS and islamist practice of destroying precious historical sites won't change history. this UNESCO posturing brings shame and discredit on the organisation.

My brain is hot so I will just ask why. Why is it that Israel is the only country in the world that has no right to exist ? My DNA was there over five thousand years ago and lives there still

Judaism is not a race but PEOPLE, RELIGION, ETHICS and LEADER of Humanity Development. Unfortunately both American, European and Israeli educational systems had failed in teaching true history, which is now being distorted by the followers of Allah and their supporters from the left filed.

Islam teaches Muslims to lie and conceal (taqiyya and kitman) in order to promote Islam among non-Muslims.

Muslims had destroyed their corrupt, dysfunctional and overpopulated 56 Muslims occupied countries are now invading Europe, Americas and Australia, while blaming Jews and America for all their problem caused by the totalitarian, supremacist and imperialistic IDEOLOGY of Islam, which is unfit for a good human lifew.

Such self serving stuff, is no surprise, to many.

The 'Jewish' story has been written, re-written, changed and manipulated from the beginning. That's a fact. Biblical and archaeological scholars, have established inconsistencies in the Torah, as well as considerable evidence, based on modern, scientific tools that show, the trail of human civilization in the region that was well established, before the, so called, escape from Egypt.
It has been shown that it was not a 'mass' exodus, and that the people that left, were not Israelites, but primarily people from North of Egypt, a region inhabited by a people, and not "Israelites'.

This is not under dispute in the scientific community, though myths and stories abound, and will continue, as they have, over centuries.
Reputable sources have documented the established communities already living in the area and the migration of people in the region, before and after, the 'exodus'.
DNA testing and radio carbon dating are reliable, increasingly, providing valuable information and facts.

"That's how it works. First you're marginalized, then you're erased."

That is how it 'works' for some - Zionists and the Israeli state has carried out a policy of marginalizing the Palestinians, trying to wipe out their history, heritage, and way of life for about seventy years.
Colonialism and racism is not new.

Doesn't anyone remember that without Adam and Eve, who were Jews, the rest of this bloody world of people would not exist.

Sheri Schongold - thanks for your valuable information. I didn't know that Moses existed before Adam and Eve ...

Thanks Jess for putting matters a bit straighter and in context with facts ;-).

Jess and all those who agree with her. What you write doesn’t really matter. The Jewish People have survived over 3000 years with this story regardless of where they live/lived – in the Land of Israel or the diaspora. Just the fact that over the centuries from Jerusalem, to Poland, to Yemen this story has maintained their identity as a nation with strong connections to the Land of Israel. I do not think there is another People in the world who despite being exiled from their Land and dispersed, have maintained such a connection to their history and to each other for such a long time.

I would appreciate it if you would recommend a book or books written prior to the 20th century giving us an insight to Palestinian history, heritage, and way of life. This would be very helpful in enlighten us about the Palestinians.

Religion is religion if you are a believer whatever religion just keep within reason to the 10 commandments and live your life. The people complicate it making some religions worshiped out of fear and reading things in that have not been proven
One God one power call him what ever name you like depending where you are born but keep it simple

Thanks David for a great article. To alll of the haters I say you can only have human rights for everyone and it isn't up to you to define who and what a distinct people is. The jewish people's story is thousands of years in the making and a couple of clever verses or lies spun as truth won't change that I am a proud Zionist-Jews are entitled tot he same rights you would defend for others inthe area and the world. If you dont' think so you express your bias very clearly and then some!.You can'tg pick and choose who has human rights.

Differentiation within humankind based on race, sex, nationality, etc. dehumanizes those who differentiate.

Noted, thanks
