This is not the only country which has blasphemy laws. The sad part is that many of the institutions of higher learning in the West are willing to accept contributions from these countries. Meaning that these institutions preach a value system (freedom of speech, etc.), but accept monies from those whose values are directly the opposite – isn’t this both hypocritical and shameful?

I live in one of those countries complicit in sending money to other countries with worse human rights atrocities than ours. They do it to protect corporations that operate with algorithms, slave labor and no consciences. They do it for political favor.
I am often ashamed of america.

D avid thanks for the news.,We have already signed petitions for clemency for Sindhu. We ask for mercy from the merciless. We can only hope that strong apposition from the leaders of other countries will bring a reversal of the court's ruling. When the religion of peace is in the minority it is is tolerant and accept other faiths ,When it reaches a majority it is the complete opposite of that.. Pakistan and the other middle east countries that are islamic are proof ot that..

This is a oppressively and depressingly common phenomena in Pakistan. But to understand this, one must realize that type of oppression is intrinsic to Islam. Think of the huge amount of ancient temples and artifacts that ISIS has destroyed because they are considered blasphemous to Islam.

Islam has no respect for others' religions, unless it makes itself powerful enough to make non-Muslims pay oppressive taxes called Jizya and can extort payments.

Islam is utterly incompatible with humanitarianism.

This is so sad, such terrible things happening all over the world, it's so frustrating, sometimes it's just too much for me to read and absorb. Thanks David.

Just so sad, that people can be so ignorant and unwilling to accept, other thoughts. People should have the right to worship and pray to whom ever they wish as long as they respect the rights of others to do the same. However in some places the people who should know better are so bigoted and ignorant that they think killing someone for an innocent comment is the normal action and so they do heinous atrocities in the name of religion but when a sensible soul analyses the whole shemozzle it has nothing to do with religion because these sadists are hiding behind the religious card and it is so rediculous that I think I'll put my head in a bag and just ignore the daily news of murder and horror created by humans against each other and animals. I worry for my grandchildren just what sort of world they will inherit?

At present, the citizenry of the United States is having its Freedom of Speech stripped from it every day! Each morning we wake up to face a new day with less freedoms! It will not belong before the world will be reading articles like this that are coming out of our beloved country!!!

Seems like lots of backstabbing for greed and obstacles to justice in Pakistan; in this case a model citizen who has contributed to society and his family are being sacrificed for appearances. Must be a horrible society to live in.
