In many countries women are active participants in the political process and have made progress toward economic equality. However, women's rights to life, to physical integrity, to health, education and freedom from violence, remains largely unfulfilled.

The article is certainly correct on the issue of women sometimes being put in "show" positions in various governments, just so that nation can boast of its liberality in women's rights. Like the recent appointment of a woman in Saudi Arabia to head the Ministry of Education - only the fine print reads that she is in charge of WOMEN'S education only. One step forward, a half step back.....
