"140 million birds a year are being slaughtered as they pass through just one country: Egypt.
Caught, sold & eaten!!!
Even if the swallows and swifts do manage to avoid the nets, they are also shot at.
A investigation by German TV estimated that mist nests are erected along 700 kilometres of the Egyptian coast and in the Nile Valley, capturing a range of birds from the stunning golden oriole to the tiny but beautiful willow warbler."

Something must be done!!!!!

This mass slaughter must be stopped. We also need to protect the insects so the birds have something to eat when they get here. Thanks Joan. This is scary.

Other countries which kill our beautiful songbirds in huge numbers are Lebanon, Cyprus, Italy and Malta! They catch them to be eaten, to be kept in cages, to enjoy hunting. Most of the birds are underr strict protection but these hunters don't mind as long as they can make money. It is digusting!!!
