Already signed and forwarded on Change. They don't just do this for the animals skin ~ they also do this when they are going to eat the animal. I could eliminate each and every person involved with no remorse. Sorry if that's too harsh of a statement for some people. Thanx Kim!

I will sign a thousand times over but I could not bear to see even the one still shot at the top of the page. I put my hand up to cover it as fast as I could. I'm know there are nice Chinese people, even some who are as horrified as we are about the horrible, horrible practices in question. But they are in the minority, and as far as I know they sure don't speak out in protest. When I was in China, anywhere near one of those open-air markets, the air would be routinely punctuated by the hideous shreiks of a dog or cat being butchered. And people calmly going about their day unperturbed. REALLY. MORE. THAN. ONE. COULD. BEAR.!!!!!!!! And there was NOTHING to be done except leave the country. Which I did.
To this day when I see "made in China" on something, my stomach turns over and I drop it like a hot potato. EVERYONE should do the same. Thank you Kim.

When will they ever understand compassion for another being? Only do to others what you are prepared to experience yourself. Just how many more of these petitions do we have to sign before this is abolished forever! God have mercy on these poor innocent victims of the worst possible kind of cruelty & death! So gladly signed. Thanks Kim.

For every action there is a reaction. According to the law of karma, if we cause pain and suffering to other living beings, we must endure pain and suffering in return, both individually and collectively. We reap what we sow, in this life and the next, for nature has her own justice. No one can escape the law of karma

This is THE VERY WORST, most APPALLING act a human can visit on another living being. It must be stopped I am distressed just to see the animal after this horrific act, cannot watch the video. I am haunted by the pictures.

Cow Plea,Is Nothing Sacred?
Mahatma Gandhi believed that a nation could be judged by the way it treats its animals. If that yardstick were applied to his own country today, India would be in the doghouse. Hindus venerate many of God's creatures, and the cow is considered especially sacred. But the international animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has exposed horrendous cruelty to India's cows as they are transported, illegally, to slaughter houses. Many arrive dead or badly injured after long and torturous journeys in trains and trucks or on foot. "It is Dante's Inferno for cows and bullocks," says PETA president Ingrid Newkirk.

Cruelty is real, whatever one might think of it.

P.E.T.A. has documented the unethical treatment of cattle in India substantially. The organization's list of ways in which cattle are subjected to inhumane conditions includes (and I quote here from P.E.T.A.'s own statements)

Cows and buffaloes are forced to trudge hundreds of miles without food or water and with little rest.
Animals are beaten mercilessly and driven forward in the searing Indian heat.
Their tails are broken deliberately, and tobacco and chili peppers are rubbed into their eyes in order to drive them on or force them to stand up when they collapse.
Their hooves are often bleeding and worn down to stumps.
When transported by truck, cattle suffer unimaginably because of terrible overcrowding. Crammed on top of each other in the trucks, the cows trample one another, unable to avoid suffocating each other and gouging and blinding each other with their horns.
When they are unloaded, the cows who can still stand are pulled or forced to jump from the high truck beds, often breaking legs and pelvises.
Those who have collapsed are dragged from the trucks and left lying where other cows are unloaded on top of them. Once inside the slaughterhouse, their legs hacked off or they are skinned while still alive.
Some of these can be dismissed as merely being reflective of differences in the quality of life in India and the west. Dirt roads, searing heat, bumpy and unsafe trucks, overcrowding during transportation, these are not things that the average Indian would consider extremes, even if s/he were to acknowledge the difficulties they impose. Other behavior is not so easily dismissed - deliberate cruelty in the presence of obvious and humane alternatives is inexcusable.

The roots of the problem

Culture: Cows are held in higher regard than other animals in India. Some consider them holy, and deserving of protection not only from cruelty, but from activities which would be considered routine in the west, such as slaughter for consumption and manufacture of leather goods. However, there are also communities in India which have traditionally practised the slaughter of cows, and trade in goods made from animal parts. The two facets are essentially at odds. Laws enacted in various Indian states reflect a variety of opinions, and cattle slaughter is permissible in some and not in others. This means that cattle that are set for slaughter must be transported from places where they are to the states where cow slaughter is permitted. One of P.E.T.A.'s principal claims is that such transportation often subjects the animals to torture and mindless cruelty.
Poverty: The reality of life in the nation with the largest number of poor people in the world is that exploitation is rampant. Animal cruelty is not something that Indians are any more tolerant of than others on this planet. But the alternatives to established ways of life are certainly difficult to grasp, and often must be embarked upon at some risk. Anyone who has lived in India understands this instinctively. Even many who have not are able to sympathize with the plight of those who participate in animal cruelty with little choice. Equally well known is that businesses and government in India are wont to circumvent even minimal standards. Corruption and crime are never far from the poor, for their disadvantaged position permits abuse by those who control their lives.

We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being. Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic. The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.
'With the Medicine Buddha mantra you can liberate numberless sentient beings from oceans of suffering and bring them to enlightenment.' - Lama Zopa. Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha BeKanze Radza Samudgate Soha

Are you all trully DISGUSTED??! Then let's ALL do something BE A CHAMPION OF CHANGE

In many countries, companion animals are much more than our best friends – they are part of the family. Sadly, this is not the case for millions of dogs and cats throughout China, where their lives and fate are much different. Bred in their thousands as livestock, raised in appalling conditions with no veterinary care, no free access to food and water, packed dozens to a cage and transported in filthy conditions to be slaughtered in the most vile and painful ways imaginable, the dogs and cats of China need your help!

“Champion for Change” is a monthly donation pro-gramme that gives you the opportunity to help support our community based projects in China. The aim of these projects is to affect long term change from within and eventually end the torture and killing of dogs and cats for food. Attitudes are changing in China as more and more people keep pets and are becoming aware of animal welfare.

Our education and outreach projects include Dr. Dog – animal therapy dogs who visit people in need in hospitals, schools and orphanages; Professor Paws – tail wagging professors who teach underprivileged children English while instilling love and respect of animals; we work with local animal welfare groups, communities and local authorities in changing long-held attitudes and empowering people to affect change and stop the brutal treatment of dogs and cats. Your support as a “Champion for Change” will help us to keep the momentum going through these ever expanding projects.

As a “Champion for Change” you will receive a specially designed certificate of support along with a photo of Eddie – rescued from a market in China, Eddie is now our poster boy Dr. Dog who proves over and over again that these companion animals are our invaluable friends and helpers – not food.

I signed this one and also many other on this issue and yes, will keep doing it and forwarding them to my friends until this will stop. I read about some comments in the past that did not agree with showing this type of video. But it did help to make more people to understand what is happening (picture means a thousand word, so true). I have many friends stop buying any fur after I showed them the video (I watched it once and it will haunt me forever). Thanks Kim for posting this and thanks Ronni G. for posting another petition.

As Esther says it's difficult to avoid buying things made in China because practically everything except the food we eat is made there. But boycotting them is absolutely necessary if we really care about this issue. Buy things at thrift shops if you have to. It just depends on how much you really care. It's fine to lament that this horror is happening probably 24/7 in China as well as other Asian countries, And it's great that people sign petitions imploring China to end this madness. But I believe it is questionable at best how effective petitions signed by westerners and sent to Chinese officials are. Chinese officials don't even care about the views of their own people so it doesn't seem likely they are going to care about the views of those of us in the west. But it seems like a safe bet they will care about how much money they will lose if we stop buying their products. It may actually result in more products being made in our own country again resulting in more jobs. WalMart probably sells more Chinese product than any other retailer. I stopped shopping in their stores a long time ago and urge everyone to do the same.

Dear fellow humans,

Couldn't we just go ahead and evolve past this oh-so-unnecessary state to something more noble, decent, excellent?

This wanton cruelty is obscene and heart rending and I shudder to contemplate the Kamma these creatures are creating for themselves. These are the future victims of genocide to be hacked to death in Rwanda- and Darfur-esque slaughters or marched off to extermination camps to have their humanity stripped away for having so casually abdicated their humanity in this life.... And there we'll be again, advocating for reason and compassion.

Oh humanity, it isn't that difficult..... Stand up, finally, and walk on your hind legs....

Sadly, our governments are less than fussy about who they choose to do business with - along with many entrepreneurs and businesses who look for minimum outlay/maximum profit. It's very difficult to avoid Chinese manufacturing - especially economically for many people who are struggling financially ? What do you do when there are things you need, you would like to buy ethically, but your purse tells you that you can't ? It's a bugger, it really is. . . .Evil is evil, and we all know that it is not necessary to treat any living being in such disgusting and distressing ways. I don't have the answer, sadly.

There is NO WAY I can watch the video. The overview was descriptive enough. Fashion designers and people who buy products made with animal fur need to be educated and made aware of the cruelty involved - or do they care? I am on a real mission to buy as little "made in China" products as I can, but it's hard. Soooooo much is from there, with no alternative. We need production brought back to N. America, but people have to be willing to pay more. If there is an alternative, I will buy it, and only buy what is absolutely necessary to buy that is "made in China". If many do this, they have to get the message, don't they? There are so many horrible practices in Chinese production of goods. I don't understand why people travel there, but I know people who do and are also planning to go. Travel to China should be boycotted for sure. Noted and signed petition, Kim, tx.

I was impressed that many here used the word "demonic" to describe this behavior. I have trouble believing that people do not derive some Satanic pleasure in doing this, or they would use other methods. I think the power they feel over torturing and murdering a helpless being gives them such pleasure, that they will fight tooth and nail to keep doing the same old, same old.

Dear hearts, I signed and noted... but, to say ban everything Chinese... that's impossible. The world is changing whether we like it or not, and with this New World Order, we're going to find more and more things from China and other parts of the world on our shelves, and very little that will be domestic. Although I agree with stopping the mutilation and torture of animals, please don't condemn the whole race by the actions of a few. That's the mindset of the extreme right evangelicals about the Muslims... and you certainly don't want to fit into that catagory. There are good and bad in all peoples.. and yes, right here in America, too. Most all people want nothing more than to be able to live in peace, support their families, be happy, and have a little comfort.

It is beyond me why this horror cannot be stopped. I did not watch this video, but have seen others that depict the unbearable torture that animals are subjected to at the hands of heartless, gutless humans. I guarantee you that if the humans that treat animals this way were treated the same way, they would be screaming and crying and begging for mercy. Unfortunately, animals cannot cry and they cannot defend thenselves against mutants like these. These disgusting excuses for human beings need to be brutally tortured just as they torture innocent, sweet loving animals. They are nothing but filthy scum and I am over it!

Who is responsible for this atrocity??? The government for allowing it to happen??? Corporations - companies - manufacturers - shops who do the selling - the customers who buy the products - any person inside the Chinese border who is aware of what is happening??? Nobody with the power to stop these crimes against humanity - which is exactly what they are - has the guts or courage to do so because we have given China so much leverage in the world. We are literally under their thumb. But then people here in the US can’t stop similar horrors without fear from the authorities. What is right - and the law - are often in conflict. But all that aside - in a perfect world - our president should physically look them in the face and tell them that unless this stops - they can take their goods - products - our IOUs - and whatever else we are so dependent upon them for - and go to hell. So then the question is - how many people in the world - including the Chinese people themselves - are actually willing to follow through and do what is necessary to stop this inhumanity??? Talk is cheap - it’s time for action. It’s been that time for some time now - - -

Noted, signed, Tweeted, forwarded. Everyone is aware that we do business with this country despite it's ongoing animal and human rights violations, no? We should not be partnering with "gangster regimes" such as those who visit these kinds of atrocities on living creatures. The world cries out in horror as China continues to fly in the face of every known human/animal rights violations known to mankind. When will the insanity end?

Boycott Chinese products? Chinese Restaurants? Hmmm...I don't think it's possible to truly make a dent in their "business" which is where our American jobs have gone! If you go into a store, say Marshalls or TJ Max....check your labels and you'll be shocked at how many products have gone to China... great shoe companies, great designer clothing, crafts and home goods...all from China...people do not even bother to look and thus they cater to a market of cruelty... I have not, and will not, EVER buy anything from China, no matter how pretty it is, how functional it is or how convenient it is....have not bought anything from Chine in FIVE (5) years!

If I can help in this fight, I am ready to fight.

Bette-Ann Libin (11)
Tuesday March 22, 2011, 7:01 pm
It is possible to buy almost everything you need from other countries. I go for American made first and foremost. You have to take the time to go through the items, although time is never easy to find, I feel better when I walk out of the store. I have found Burlington Coat Factory has a balanced inventory. I love to buy fine cotton products from Eqypt and India. Viet Nam offers a nice collection of clothing. I even found a pair of jeans from Kenya! Happy shopping!

They put an animal through such a cruel, painful and terrifying death for $1 per pelt? It shouldn't be done at any cost, but it's mind-boggling that they would be willing to do something so horrible for one dollar. The people who engage in this practice are monsters without a soul or conscience. I was sickened by the video and will do everything I can to boycott anything Chinese.

Hi! Why is this petition only for Americans? The rest of us are also concerned about this horror. I would love to sign this petetion. Please change it and make it international the impact would then be tremendous that's a promise!

Wednesday March 23, 2011, 3:31 am
I so agree with people who couldn't even look at the still picture at the top. Luckilyl one of my cats jumped up in front of the screen and hid it from my view as I was signing!....... Even the thought of this makes me so angry and upset that I could vomit! I just sit here at my computer wishing with all my hear that there was more that I could do to stop these sort of things happening. the people that do them should not be able to call thenselves human.. They are as low as the lowest psychopaths that walk on this earth causing hurt and pain to everyone they meet. How can they NOT see that this is wrong???? Apart from the fact that they might wonder why so many people in Califoria are petitioning, I mark down CA where it says state and put 93023 as the zip code, as a care 2 lady told me I could use her address for the ones that I couldn't sign from Austalia. It always gets through okay.I mean, we ALL want this stopped, not just in the states and we want to sign too! Sometimes if they ask for a 5 digit post code, you can just add a zero in front of your four numbered post code and the computer accepts it.

It is hard to believe that decent people just stand idly by & do nothing to bring about change.

I am reading that many people have trouble finding the country of product origin. It's simple...home goods typically have the "made in China" stamp on the bottom of a product. Note, you may have to peal back the price sticker to locate but it's there! Clothing is even easier, look at the neck tag, if the tag is on the inside seam you'll do a little more work. Shoes, simple, look inside the shoe, on the side or the tongue. Sheets, blankets, pillows, usually right on the product in full view.

Now you have work to do, go out and don't shop China!

Truly, there are no words to describe one's reaction to such horror.
And to think that our western governments do nothing to protest this sickeness to the Chinese government...... And they will continue to remain mute until elected officials hear it loud and clear that the majority of the electorate want their voices heard and acted upon.

I have signed again and wrote a personal message to the President Obama. There is too much grief, sorrow, despair and anxiety in the world today. All this negativity is harmful to us all, and with so many traumatic events worldwide, the problem which has been around for far too long, is the need for animal rights. Also, legislation to punish, imprison and prevent humans from the atrocities they do to our animals!

Tamila mendoza (177)

What I'd like to know is why, why, why, our news channels don't put this out there for everyone to know? Why do we have to continually hear about some stupid druggy movie star when animals are being tortured, skinned alive, raped, abused, chained, and used in experiments? Why isn't the public told about what really goes on in China? If people knew the truth, this could stop overnight!!! Who is keeping us in the dark? If the CEO's of these news stations would only start telling the world what nightmares are happening to our non-human companions....the tortures would stop immediately. Most people the world over would be sickened beyond belief and China would either change immediately or would totally tank as an economy.
I don't twitter or do facebook, but millions do..............this information should be all over our electronic world. We've been signing these petitions for years but this cruel torture is still is going on....let's enlist the help of the young people who can get the information out there to effect real change now!

The RSPCA worked with the Chinese government to introduce an animal welfare bill but I'm not sure if it has passed yet. The Chinese do not understand our need to pass legislation as the other countries, including ours, treat animals badly.

I am desperate to see skinning alive stopped as a first step but we need to stop our ill treat ment too. How can we justify telling someone not to do something when we do it too? In the meantime if we can just stop this......

My personal comment:
This barbaric and unspeakably SADISTIC abuse and murder of sentient beings MUST STOP!!! I have pledged to never, ever knowingly buy ANY Chinese product or produce, nor will I ever set foot in your foul country! What IS the MATTER with you??? China was once a highly civilized and cultured nation! I tell everyone I speak to or write to that they must BOYCOTT your disgusting country where sadism, barbarism, abuse and the brutal murder of sentient beings - both human and non-human animals - is commonplace.

To all of you who have written "cannot sign, US only":

I live in England and do not have a US addres and I still sign! It is quite simple:
just type in a street address and house number, choose a town or city you know and then the right state; finally, invent a 9 digit zip code! A 5 digit zip code is also acceptable.

After typing my UK street address & no, I just chose Los Angeles, CA (for California) and typed 12012-4644 and voila', the program accepted it!
