A hero road worker saved his buddy's life but lost his leg when they were both struck by an out-of-control car driven by a woman who was high on crack, cops said.

Its bad when people driving dont look out for the highway workers. And the druggies, dont see nothing but space so stupid drugs.

Am glad they will be alright. My dad worked for the state highway department (construction, he was an inspector) and the horror stories he would tell. People you have GOT to be careful in construction zones, it's not only your life you are jepordizing but others too.

Sherbet a friend indeed is a friend indeed... he was so lucky to have his buddy there, hope the driver was prosecuted and made to pay the bills

In the UK the traffic is slowed down to go past road works. The contractors have a large coned off section. They are still at risk but it is less than it appears to be in the US.

We are also much better at drunk driving as we have breatherlisers at the side of the road administered by trained police. There is no doubt as to the amount of alcolhol consumed, no can you walk a straight line or put 2 fingers on your nose. We have now introduced drug testing and this is part of the drink driving legislation. This woman would be prosecuted for dangereous driving and end up in prison (if guilty). Done nothing wrong, what a joke!
