This is horrible Lone, what has happened to the children and that the dogs are starving to this point. Are we talking about jackals like the picture, or packs of mongrel abandoned domestic dogs? Either way it is sad and terrible, just wondering. Thanks for the post, noted.

They would be abandoned non-neutered domestic dogs. There is a massive problem on the First Nations lands with these dogs. There are many rescue places in Alberta but I am not sure about Saskatchewan. I know here we have a problem trying to get as many dogs neutered as possible as quite often the 'owners' won't give permission. Perhaps this sort of 'attack' will help some local humane societies to get involved or I fear some backlash and a lot of shooting may be involved - which I would hate to see. It is not these dogs' faults, it is the fault of the humans who have not cared for them.
