There is a reasonably high chance that BP could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few years, or even months, and the result would be an "absolute horror" for the government, according to bankruptcy expert Peter S. Kaufman.

I think the law for bankrupcy should be changed. People should take responsibility for their own action. If a guy goes and spend foolishly on credit card or a company like BP spends money in a stupid ways, they should be held responsible.

"But remember, just because BP can pay claims doesn't mean they should, or that they will, given that their primary obligation is to their shareholders."

wow. people who think like that should be beaten senseless!

Thanks Roseann.

This article is a great post; I hope it's not too late. I suspect that BP has been working on these options for some time. I wonder how the US Supreme Court's latest decision will affect things here.

Thats no surprise, I am waiting for someone to blame President Obama for this too just wait. The judge that allowed the ban to be lifted on off shore drilling, I have not heard one complaint about that. Some times I wonder is bp writting some of these comments.
