Home Depot implemented self checkouts saying it would not cost cashier jobs then internally said each self checkout would cost 4 jobs. But people need to work and support themselves.

I hate using self checkouts at the grocery store and was so disappointed to see Target install them. They don't make it faster-there is always some problem it seems and you have to wait for the supervisor to come help. Using them is designed to do away with human interaction and cost jobs. I think they are a terrible idea!

The self checkouts don't like me...avoid them whenever possible. Thanx Angelus.

I have used self-checkout, but only when all of the human-run lanes were backed up. I like interacting with other people; indeed, human interaction is an important part of my experience dining out or shopping. If I walked into a restaurant and found that it was fully automated, I would walk out. There is a reason why the automats of old are nearly extinct, if not already gone the way of 8-track.
