Obama: VA is healing - President Barack Obama adamantly opposes privatizing the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve the level of health care veterans receive.

Of course he does. Why hand it over to people who would actually care for them when the government has done such a crabby job? Obama couldn't care less about our veterans and he's proved it by the hospitals, conditions, staff and care that they receive. Coming in when it's reached a crisis point, that could have been avoided, is just grandstanding and a pack of lies. Thanks, James.

I'm sorry, I forgot something. His grandstanding is for political gain and has nothing to do with our veterans. As I said, he's had almost eight years to care for our veterans, each of whom has more courage in his/her little finger than BO has in his entire body. Thanks, again, James.

Thanks James,

The VA was a screwed up, total mess during G. Washington's day. Every soldier (after his service) in every era of US history has been abandoned by our government except WW2 vets and that's only because "They" couldn't weasel out of helping soldiers recover from such a costly-destructive war that ended with an atomic bomb in Hiroshima.

It is an utter disgrace what our government has done to the VA during my lifetime. But the final straw was........(can you guess it)......................yes, you guessed it: The Cheney-Bush neocon-job administration that began a 2 wars without...................yes, guessed it, again: without raising TAXES on the rich. Thus, guaranteeing that the VA would not be able to take care of the thousands of shattered wounded soldiers returning home in the future.

"And then the staggering costs of these wars, which are borne by the taxpayers. I mean, one of the things that was insane was that, as we're at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush administration cut taxes. This has never been done in American history. The idea of cutting taxes while you're going to war is just crazy. I mean, it's madness." - Bob Herbert

Yes, madness. Republican madness reeked its political head again.

Privatizing the V.A. would have been terrible, and I signed some petitions against it, so I'm glad it won't happen---at least under this president.
And, I absolutely agree with Randy's above comment. Not taxing the wealthiest to pay for these wars, while our soldiers fought and died just absolutely reeks of entitlement. The profits made from these wars all go to the wealthiest-----war profiteers. Makes me sick to my stomach and angry.
