This is not a picture of an American woman - but it could be. If we do not stop the violence then we pass it one to the next generation. This a struggle for life - life without fear, life without brutality, life with pride. Please help women every where. Be a true voice for those who are not allowed to speak.

Thanks Kit, signed, I have read and seen on TV how men will be promised a woman to marry from another family, some of which are way to young to even marry, and when they run away before the time comes and even move to another country, they are stalked and then brutalized..the man will throw acid onto the womans face so no other man will want sad..and selfish...

signed, this was probably Afghani as there have been more women there over the last decade setting themselves on fire to commit suicide than anyone would believe, it is horrifying and the reasons behind it need to be stopped

This is very prevalent in Pakistan, all in the name of "honor", on par with "honor killings."

violence against woman and girl could happen anywhere and anytime, e.g, house, school, work place or public place,,if we not aware of it its would continue. and we could help to end violence against woman and girl start from our own house or start from our own community or group, and we could help and encourage woman or girl to learn about martial art so that they could defend herself when there's a danger.

signed and noted

Since the overthrow of the Taliban in Afghanistan, a more egalitarian notion of womens rights has begun to take place, founded in the new Constitution, and promoted by the newly created Ministry of Womens Affairs, and a small community of womens advocates. There are now womens shelters, where abused women can go. A woman can now be represented by a lawyer in family court. There are many women in parlaiment as well.

Good news for the women of Afghanistan. To view progress being made in Afghanistan, you can go to my profile page to hear from Afghan women how the world is helping them.
