Walking Pillowcase Found on Long Island Beach

A man who works as a peace officer for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals was mystified until he saw the writing on the pillowcase. And this story has a happy ending.

SHAME ON and bad cess to the person who abandoned it. I think this little gator should be named Lucky, since he was found by a caring SPCA volunteer and will be placed in a sanctuary. But honestly, people, WHO in their right mind would dump a baby alligator on a beach in a PILLOWCASE?

How inhumane!!!! I would like to put them in a pillow case and on the beach to see how it feels, The must have been so intense, at least this little animal got life, ppl are morans who have no respect for Gods creatur's or his entire earth and oceans and all that he made, They destroy and make a mockrey of all the beauty that he has gave us, they litter, cutdown our tree's fishing out our oceans, destroying our enviorment!!!. Me I love our Country and its beutiful but ppl have to stop.

It's great that this ended happily. What does go through people's minds though ~ this little alligator was left closed up in a pillow case ~ he could have died ~ and more importantly, could have caused harm to anyone who happened to open the pillow case. Cute story though Cate ~ Thanks.

It is sad when one realizes that we stay in a society, that if an animal, reptile or whatever creature is in our care and we don't want it-we just dump in regardless of the consequences to the animal, reptile or whatever creature. I'm glad the alligator was found but what happens now to the little tyke? a zoo or perhaps lucky enough a sanctuary?

CAn you imagine what it would be like to see a pillowcase moving? I bet he felt a little bit scary movieish.
Poor little alligator there is no way he should have been treated that way.

Normally on a post like this we would all, by now, be ranting and raving over another animal abuse story ending with a dead animal. Cate, thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I needed the happy ending. I'm still in grief over Maximus.

The male gator will be taken Sunday to a zoo outside of New York State, where it's illegal to own alligators.

Yes, it might be funny if it weren't so tragic. A gator in a pillowcase. Except that the pillowcase was just
left out for who knows what to find - it must have been terrifying for the little guy. Thank God this had a
good ending. Why in @#* can't people get it through their heads not to just dump or abandon whatever
they tire of??? Be it animals or even babies, some people think they can just toss aside what they don't want. Apparently we must do a better job of telling the public the proper way to get rid of what they don't want.
AND to try to educate them in the first place about all these animals, in the hopes that many won't even
get them in the first place! This is one of those unending, thankless jobs that we must all take on!
Thanks for telling us about it!
