Apparently Blair has been attending Mass regularly and he and his wife have their children enrolled in Catholic schools as well.

Anglicanism is Catholicism with approved divorce and no Pope or historical confession...not a huge change for Blair but I was surprised by this all the same.

Cate; True....At least BLAIR stepped down as Prime Minister, (although once involved in the sham) of this UGLY war overseas. Good for the Blairs. Again, Merry Xmas!

Only a couple of centuries ago, a prominent British politician embracing Catholicism would have been considered TREASON! But in fact the whole motivation for founding the Anglican Church, so a king could divorce his wife after the Pope refused his request, was immoral as well.

Wish he'd move his family over to the US and become a US Citizen, and run for President. Tony Blair would make the BEST President we've ever had!!

I like that part, that's what's wrong with the church.
I'm catholic and don't believe everything you hear.
I think the church tends to get it's priorities mixed up, like in the Scarlet and the Black when saving gold and heirlooms was more important than saving children's lives.

Why would Blair make a good President? They couldn't wait to get rid of him in England, and he contributed to Bush's war in Iraq - am I missing something here? Just because he became a Catholic? If he became a Lutheran (my church) I wouldn't suddenly want him to be President-who cares what religion he professes to believe-it's his actions that count and that's beyond the photo ops in the Church doors. I was not impressed with his buddy-buddy act with Bush -he didn't recognize Bush for the dangerous man he is...president, I don't think so...noted

Anything less is just a bunch of empty words whether it be Tony Blair, George Bush, Pat Robertson, or the Pope.

Whereas, Christ has been called the Prince of Peace, repent of the
eagerness to use war and violence (with nuclear bombs and depleted uranium) as the answer to every international situation, of the horrific and destructive war waged in Iraq which
has claimed tens of thousands of lives, and commit to a
withdrawal of aggressive armies, to a new foreign policy based on the building of
relationships, not the bombing of children, and to fostering and nurturing
peace. There has been 1.2 million Iraqis killed mostly collateral damage, 4 thousand Americans, 2 million Iraqis displaced, and tens of thousands wounded maimed and abandoned. I believe the Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish religious text say 'Thy Shalt Not Kill', Avenge Not, Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, so again - anything less would be abject hypocrisy.*

what's he trying to do, get absolution for that innocent immigrant from brasil, who was hunted and killed by police, when this terrorattack in the subway in london happened, which was surely an terroristic act, ordered by blair???

I think that the opinion that the blair himself ordered something like that is a little extreme.

Oh please?? who gives a rats A$$ if the guy converted?? He is obviously hiding from something??
But only an individual who is truly at peace with her or himself can receive atonement for their personal sins
Again why is this news?
Thanks Cate
