I do something similar to what he does.I live on a ranch and I work as a vet tech and our vet comes out to our ranch to check our animals out.I have a guest house that I turned into a doggie house.I take in very sick or senior dogs that would have been put down and they live in the guest house, they have their own couch and orthopedic beds for the seniors. And they live out their last days knowing comfort and love.I lost one a few weeks ago, right now I have 5.They are my joy.

Thanks Hannah, … like you, I have a small ranch and farm (ranch is a destination for Dept. of Ag. & tax purposes, run sheep, alpacas, horses, no animals for slaughter, and have organic fruit orchards and crops sold locally via farmer’s markets), and have been rescuing and providing a safe home for many animals over the years, at various times keeping as many 24 dogs, 40 cats, dozens of rabbits, many ducks, geese, cranes, and more horses than can remember, and at times rescuing and rehabbing/releasing various wildlife (from squirrels, skunks, owls, eagles, coyotes, foxes, deer, elk, and even a young orphaned black bear and two orphaned cougars, etc., while looked for good homes for them or released them back into the wild (in the case of wildlife) . Iam now down to a more manageable few (6 dogs, 5 cats, 7 horses, 26 sheep, 8 goats, 4 Alpacas, not counting the various small wildlife that just hangs around for the companionship, safety (animals are smart, deer, elk, antelope, bears, foxes, etc., all know they have safe refuge here from hunters and hang around) and the free food they can scavenge from the orchards, gardens and barns. Unfortunately, now that I am older, and more financially challenged, I can’t do what I used to in years past, but do what I can. Like you there, here we have a grab domestic and Ag vet who comes out to the ranches and helps keep up with the health needs of the animals. Unfortunately, due to some recent changes in the laws here, I can no longer rescue injured wildlife and keep them here for rehab (law requires a full time wildlife VET on site 24/7 now). It’s been very rewarding and has made my life so much more rich. Kudos to the is guy and everyone like him and you. Keep up the good work! Thank you!

“designation” , I meant, not destination, darned spell checker! Although I do like to think of the place as a “destination”, … for me, my animal friends, some far away friends, neighbors, and some locals it is, anyway! :D
