Very few readers are shocked to hear that Fox News hates the first family, and black people in general.

I don't see Fox News' actions as racist - but as having a deeply conservative bias. I imagine that if Obama had been white, they would have been just as critical of him.

Most news organizations lean right or left - and some lean a little harder than others.

I have to agree with Lindsey. And the article is has a very sensationalist title, and the editorial article does little to support the title. No offense, Lynne.

"Hate" is a very strong word. And to accuse of racism is a very strong accusation. I just don't see it.

i chose this article because of its title. i like to stir the pot on occasion, make people read and think.

I think the article is right on. Every one of the points are things that I've heard or seen on Fox. Racist, indeed.

"Most news organizations lean right or left - and some lean a little harder than others."

News organizations shouldn't be "leaning" in ANY political direction! They should just report the facts and let the people make up their own minds. Sometimes, I get the impression that we Americans have in FOX News what the Soviets had with Pravda.

And BTW, I never read left-leaning news sites either. I don't need to. My political views are strictly based on reality, not spin.

Just another load of tripe. Are we now going to be subject to 4 years of hearing mental incompetents screaming "racist" every time someone disagrees with Obama or his policies? Shouldn't we all be free to express our disagreement, disappointment, or disgust without being labeled racist just because the object of our attention happens to be half black?

Well put, Donni. And that is exactly what we are going to be hearing for the next four years.

I've had quite a few people call me "racist" when they found I didn't vote for Obama. I, of course, would very reasonably explain that I'm liberarian and voted for Ron Paul - and have never voted Democrat in my life. No use - they would repeat the charge endlessly.

Logic and sweet reason are in short supply in this world of ours.

Fox is one of the few stations that actually give both sides of a story. It is absurd to think they are racist. I suppose any one who now disagrees with Obama is a racist?

Fox has always been this way. It's too bad, and I can't be surprised.

How can anyone reasonably even consider fox gives both sides of a story? That's a remark that astounds me. Lindsey I am not surprised. I think the pick for head of RNC is interesting. The spin on that will be interesting.

Sad, but true, Lindsey.

Fox must be understood, within the context of Murdoch's media empire..the individual components that make up the whole, seem to function according to two basic rules 1)to reflect and spread Murdoch's extreme right wing views, and 2)to maximise profits while spreading the Empire as far as possible, geographically and in terms of poloitical influence. These rules appear at odds with each other, and sometimes as in the case of Murdoch's Chinese outlets,he will tow a line that stands in contrast to his professed, but bogus spouting of libertarianism.Always Murdoch's agenda is being followed though..to enrich self, gain influence, keep the masses dumb, divide and rule, whilst spreading as right wing an agenda as is possible, within the laws and rules, relating to media content, of any particular country.
I do find myself aghast at the lack of objectivity in US news,to compare Fox with the BBC in terms of journalistic values,is embarrasing for Fox,which just comes across as propaganda news.
Anyone who has any delusions about Fox's balance, should seek out Robert Greenwalds excellent documentary "OutFoxed".An example of the Fox bias ,is seen in the documentary maker's interviews with ex -Fox reporters, who were made to either follow a pro-Republican line,or were moved out of the organisation.Furthermore,it is no accident that ALL of Murdochs mouthpieces, viciously backed the Iraq invasion. The same tactics were used in all of these-make those questioning the invasion appear unpatriotic, cowardly and effete, whilst making the military forces look heroic.
Murdoch's desire to influence politics, and extend his business interests, may make him,and by extension his reactionary news outlets, back or "go easier"on less right wing candidates at times..ie Obama or B-Liar..this is though only a tactic, and lets be honest B-liar for example was not left wing, just ever so slightly less conservative than the opposition-plus it was obvious that he was going to win anyway..so why back a conservative loser, when you can have a conservative winner?
If we are to take up the cause of freedom-and I dont mean the crappy ,shallow type of "freedom"that just means we are all ruled by bilionaires, and rich elites-then Murdoch must be seen as a threat.
Is a free press/media,one where wealth equals access and ownership?Of course it isn't-thats just an aspect of oligarchy,or dictatorship by the mega- wealthy.
In the UK ,our daily press is overwhelmingly bonkers and quasi racist-ie they dont talk about inferior black people anymore, but they have an endless tirade against those who take action for racial equality,or these will present distorted, selective, untrue, sensationalist items against immigrants-the stories give very little space ,to counter arguments of course..
The subtlety and coded nature, of this clandestine racism,is very evident at Fox ,and could be seen in the language used to describe Barack and Michelle Obama ,prior to the election..
This type of rubbish, affects our social consciousness, our national character and does nothing to enhance the development of critical awareness (it is dumbed down, for an audience ,who dont mind being treated as idiots).Do we want our window on the world, to be distorted by narrow minded owners, spreading views which suit a narrow business agenda -?Where no one in the media expresses ideas ,that desperatly need to be in the public arena-the pathetic press jingoism in the US ,prior to and at the start of the Iraq war, would be an example. The media failed YOU,they failed the world, they failed the Middle East.
Id prefer liberty and democracy to Murdochracy myself.

Fox news, Unfair and Imbalanced reporting as usual. If the left acted as rude as this bunch of right wingers do, we have a civil war on our hands. No, it is only for for the whiney little right wingers with their good ole boy ways to whine and point fingers. In my opinion Fox news sucks.
