Millions of people are convinced that Troy Davis is innocent or at least that his case deserves a new trial. Condemned on GA's death row, Troy Davis says all he wants is "a just day in a fair court." Amnesty International asks that YOU find a rally nearby

Hello, friends and Care2 News readers:

This is NOT the article. Trust me - you would not want to miss reading it. Use the green "visit site" button above to access the article about Troy Davis and Georgia justice.

NEWSFLASH: TROY DAVIS COULD BE EXECUTED WITHOUT HIS GUILT EVER BEING PROVED! It has happened before. Read about Philip Workman, executed in May 2007 in Tennessee. Southern states do that kind of thing, and Workman was white. What chance has Troy go without YOU doing all that you can for him? Please read and note the news about Philip Workman at the below link:

The picture above shows Troy Davis muzzled - denied the privilege to speak for himself. The witnesses who are ready to recant their testimony are also muzzled. Some of them would tell how they were pushed by police to perjure themselves, you see.

When justice involves showing up the injustice on the part of lawmakers and law officers, censorship happens. The way they chose to censor Troy Davis and those witnesses was to keep them out of court - even if it means killing an innocent person.

So I beg you to join all of us who are doing what we can to try to save Troy Davis. Please find a protest to attend tomorrow while Troy yet breathes! To discover he was definitely innocent 10 years from now when Troy lays cold in his grave and hold a candlelight vigil will not do! Come out strong for Troy Davis tomorrow, May 19. Come out strong for Justice!

If you are able, donate to AI. They do an awesome job.

Let me ask you something, Care2 fellow members? ARE YOU ONE? Please read this and decide. If you are ONE, then help me, please. Send this news to all your friends and groups. Troy has only this one GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION planned by AI, and it is today. Help me to alert others in time to help Troy. Please be ONE today!

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do. Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909)

Thank you, everyone, for reading and sharing this important news.

EVERY DAY IS A GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION FOR TROY DAVIS AND OTHER DEATH ROW INMATES! We need to repeal the death penalty all across the world. People are too valuable to treat this way, even if they undervalue life themselves.

I think most prisoners just need more fresh air and healthy vegetables. They need someone to talk with them about their issues and the value of being a positive force in the world. Do you have any idea how many of prisoners never had that? Give them a field to clean off and a garden to grow. Give them life without parole if they did horrible things - but make a tiny loophole for the inmates who are truly rehabilitated.

Give all the prisoners post-conviction DNA testing who want it!

Give those with substantial new evidence like Troy Davis a new trial!

Pay inmates a decent wage for their work so they can pay restitution to their victims - VICTIMS COUNT, TOO! Why should the prison profiteers reap the benefits of capturing so many people in cages PLUS get paid our tax money - up to $50,000 per prisoner. Let that do, and give the work earnings (minimum wage) to the inmates' victims and to the inmates' underage children. Get those kids off welfare! Y'all make the taxpayers pay to keep the inmates in jail and, in many cases, take care of the children the inmates leave behind. That system is not fair to anyone - not the victims, the prisoners' children, not the taxpayers, and not the inmates. They are all cut out of the equasion! Help the inmates have a nest egg for when they are released some day, so they can go back to school or start a business. People act better when they have something to look forward to, you know.

Bless everyone, and bless Care2 for making this forum possible. We will all continue to pray for Troy Davis and for our justice system.

Mary, I just got something in my private email, I thought it is important, so I am sharing w/all. Here it is & I signed it, and I will post the replies as well. Here is the email from International Action Center:

Please join the online campaign to STOP THE EXECUTION! FREE TROY DAVIS NOW!

Tell Gov. Perdue and the Georgia Pardons and Parole Board:

Troy Davis is an African American on death row in Georgia. Davis was convicted in the 1989 killing of a police officer despite what Amnesty International calls "overwhelming doubts about his guilt." No physical forensic evidence was presented at Davis' trial, and 7 of the 9 witnesses have recanted their testimony, with at least two saying they were pressured by police to finger Davis as the killer. Yet on October 14, 2008 the Supreme Court refused to allow a new hearing in his case, and on April 16, 2009 the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-1 to deny his appeal. TAKE ACTION NOW using the form below to let the Georgia Parole Board, Governor, Legislature, and congressional delegation as well as President Obama, U.N. Secretary-General Ban, Congressional leaders and members of the media know you demand No Execution of Troy Davis!

On May 19, from Alaska to West Virginia and from Argentina to Uganda, high school and college students, faith-based groups and progressive community organizations are organizing vigils, rallies and petition drives as well as the vital means of communication to bring worldwide pressure on Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue and the Pardons and Parole Board to stop the execution of Troy Anthony Davis.

Your messages will go to hundreds of public officials, including the Governor of Georgia, the entire Georgia legislature, each member of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, the full Georgia Congressional delegation, as well as President Obama, Attorney General Holder, Congressional leaders, U.N. Secretary-General Ban, and national and local media representatives.

To fill in the online petition, go to:

For more information and to find a demonstration near you go to:

The text of the message reads as follows (you will have the opportunity to edit it if you wish):

To: Governor Perdue, Georgia Pardons and Parole Board, Georgia Legislature, Georgia Congressional Delegation, President Obama, Attorney General Holder, Congressional Leaders, U.N. Secretary General Ban
cc: members of the media

On April 16, 2009, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 to deny the appeal of Troy Davis, an innocent man on death row in Georgia. He was convicted solely on witness testimony, and 7 of the 9 witnesses have since recanted, many alleging that police coerced them into making false statements.

I join with millions in the US and around the world in demanding that you stop the execution of Troy Davis. Innocence matters to me. Justice matters to everyone.

I urge you to act now.
