In 2006, Oxford University allowed cameras into its laboratory to film Felix, a monkey scheduled to undergo invasive surgery on his brain and a long succession of tests. We at PETA were deeply affected by the plight of this small, lonely animal in his

Thanks Simone, Just another reason I reject Western medicine. It's not worth the suffering....and a lot of people I know are worse off (or dead) than before they started.

We need to get as many people as possible to send this message to the UK Government - today. Forward this page to at least five friends and family members by using the online form below and ask them to petition Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

Another sad indication of the arrogance of these academic temples, whilst they play God with an animals life. Gut wrenchingly sick making and so often all to support some twit scientist or academics enlarged ego! Money spent in this way comes from our taxes and if not our taxes from the exorbitant profits of drug companies and the like. Animals being a disposable asset seems to be ingrained in the heads of these people perhaps they should shove electrodes in their brains and see what the effect is! Probably no electrical activity due to total atrofy and calcification! Along with the governmental "Brain" that allows this abuse!

I have no idea how it has come about that experimenting on animals serves any good cause for humans. Why not experiment on humans who have the disesses. Maybe volunteer if they are terminal. It has been known that medicines tested on animals ,such as pigs, were fatal to humans!

"Vivisection is the [most evil] of all the [evil] crimes that man is at present committing against God and His fair creation. It ill becomes us to invoke in our daily prayers the blessings of God, the Compassionate, if we in turn will not practice elementary compassion toward our fellow creatures. ... I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence."
~Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, 1869 - 1948, Nobel Prize Winner

"I abhor vivisection. It should at least be curbed. Better, it should be abolished. I know of no achievement through vivisection, no scientific discovery, that could not have been obtained without such barbarism and cruelty. The whole thing is evil."
~Dr. Charles Mayo, Founder of the Mayo Clinic

"Atrocities are no less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research."
~George Bernard Shaw, Irish Playwright and Critic

"I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't.... The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further."
~Mark Twain, 1835 - 1910

“Evidently the reason why it is wicked to torture a man is not because he has an immortal soul, but because he has a highly sensitive body; and so has every vertebrate animal, especially the warm-blooded. If we have no moral right to torture a man, neither have we a moral right to torture a dog. We have to add to our morals a new chapter on the rights of animals.
~Macaulay’s Prize Essay, Vivisection

"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction."
~Professor Charles R. Magel

I can't see the face of Felix without crying in remembrance, do they really believe we will stop fighting to release them and close down the centers where they do their torture?

Take that PETA. Primate expeiements are necessary to help find cures for diseases. If we let PETA run the country, we would still have to deal with "third world" viruses and infections! Also, PETA is the one that is killing the animals along with the "bad guys!" Just watch the video, even if you think most of it is not true.

Mike, if you think we need these experiments to find cures for diseases, why don't you offer yourself up for some experimenting? To me it sounds like you wouldn't be much of a loss.
I will fight for as long as it takes to end this horror! Animals do not deserve this. There has not been a noteworthy discovery that has resulted from vivisection in many, many years. It is just a cruel practice that cannot be justified. Considering this, it just seems the people who torture these animals really enjoy torturing them...

Appalling cruelty, my heart truly bleeds for all these little creatures, experimented on simply because they can't use their own voices to say "stop" and because certain members of the human species are unspeakably barbaric. I'm so ashamed to be a part of this species.

we'll never know what's possible unless we start trying. being satisfied with animal research keeps us stagnant. necessity is the mother of invention. take away animals and see what happens.

I think that companies and govt. agencies stand to gain so much from the sale of medicines that they won't be doing a'thng too soon to stop animal experiments. People should switch to ayurveda and other alternative medicine. I have been using ayurveda for years and I'm doing just fine, happy to say. In fact ayurveda has cures for a lot of conditions that allopathy and western medicine don't and so many needless, dangerous and invasive surgeries could be prevented if people explored their treatment options.

Countless animals would be spared these nightmarish tests if less people used th drugs produced by companies that are only to happy to butcher any animal if it means they make a profit.

Quote: "A future, more enlightened world will see vivisection as one of the more obscene and inexplicable practices of our age; it is our equivalent of slavery and cruel colonialism and those who fail to condemn it loudly will be branded as being as guilty as the vivisectors themselves by tomorrow's generations."
