Sick Rodeo Forces Mules Into High-Diving Stunts

TWO mules are forced to make terrifying high-dives into a tank of water in the name of entertainment. Crowds cheer as the helpless creatures, called Smokey and Dipsy Doodle, are sent plunging from a 22ft high platform into the 6ft deep pool.

This is horrible. These people are so sick in their brains. They should jump in themselves, not forgetting head first.

Noted, thank you Simone. I wonder how the animals were trained to do this stunt, withhold all water until they are so thirsty that they reluctantly jump, this being their only chance to get a drink? I am especially concerned about what kind of message children are taking away from this spectacle. This only just caters to one of man's lower instincts, sensationalism, which does nothing for the advancement of the human race. It does nothing to educate, or to instill respect for animals and nature. Neither does the rodeo preceding the event.

Can we get a petition started for this? What would we have to do?

Okay, sorry for the double comments. A petition can be started by anyone, but first we need to figure out the appropriate person or agency to petition. Anyone have thoughts or info on that?

I will send an e-mail to Mr. Rivers, and I suppose a petition could be started to be sent to him as well. I definitely think PETA needs to get involved to find out the agency that could stop this and to inform the public and the attendees of these shows how cruel this company is to animals. Although for the shows that are in Texas, the cruelty may not penetrate the cowboys brains.

Another reason to hate rodeos. How does that jackass know the mules like it?? He obviously doesn't speak their language or he'd know better. He must have the mentality of a rock. Likewise the morons who pay to cheer them on.

It takes common sense to see that this is wrong towards animals. Then what do these people have if there is now common sense?

Ok. I can't watch the videos or read too much because I will never get any sleep. . .I've got the picture. So step one, is to email this disgusting little man, which I have done, thank you Carol, and I have advised him that there are many people, inside and outside the USA, who will be emailing him very shortly, probably to let him know just how they feel !! I wasn't abusive, but I certainly laid it on the line as to what I thought about him and his set-up. I also informed him that all these people would also be notifying every available animal wlefare agency within his area, within the USA, and internationally. Because I believe that will be more effective - in the immediate - than petitions.. . . .it will make his life uncomfortable, it will perforate his arrogance, and his ego and pocket will take a hit, And money and self-importance are the only things that someone like that understands? You can't appeal to anything like his integrity, or principles. . .as he obviously doesn't have any. Presented with a petition, he's probably the kind of man that would tear it up in front of you and stamp on it. No, he's a type. An ignorant, self-important little man, making his money on the back of animals, and basking in some sort of warped glory. Discomfort in his comfy little life is the first, instant kick he needs. Petition sorting in the background. Only my opinion!!

Sorry about this. Further to above, I discover that this horrible news story was in the UK Sunday 'comic', The News of the World. So I have contacted their newsdesk, and raised the point with them . . that why hadn't they pursued this as a animal cruelty news story, and set the wheels in motion to get on this guy's case? You know, the News of the Woeld is more than capable of setting up a petition, and with its' reader level, the numbers signing would rocket. Anyone else care to write to their newsdesk, as all you guys out there are much more experienced than I, you might be able to persuade them to take it on - though we'd have to let them get the credit for it!!! You know how it is! Just more thoughts.

I wrote a note to the HSUS on their Facebook page. They suggested sending an e-mail to this address: animalcruelty@humanesociety.org

Also, someone on there has a contact in the sheriff's department in the area of this rodeo, a person specifically involved in animal cruelty cases. He's expecting a call back from that deputy with further info on this case.
