Caught in the Web: Wildlife Trade on the Internet

The Internet has become the world's largest marketplace, open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unregulated, anonymous and virtually unlimited in reach, the Internet provides endless opportunities for illegal criminal activities

Noted thanks... and hope everyone who tries to buy animals over the internet loses their money.. they already lost their compassion and common sense so they do not deserve money anyway.

There need to be monitors in place doing searches on the net for this AND cooperation between countries on this issue...those creeps know they can get away with it on the net, that is why they are doing it.

I think it is stoppable. It takes will, commitment and vigilance. Make it difficult or nigh on impossible for anyone to own ' exotics ' or ship/fly them places? Things can change, we just need the right people in the right places - come on folks, WE can change things. First step is all being a bit braver and speaking out. . . .

Not to mention the horror of being put in cargo holds. They die there, as we saw when 7 puppies recently died. Puppy mills ship all over by putting the innocents in cages in cargo holds to freeze or die from heat.

Animals shouldn't be sold - anywhere!!! Who do we think we are to put animals up for sale and make money out of their abuse, only because they can't defend themselves against us.
We live in a sick society, deprived of morality, sympathy and far removed from reality.

The plethora if illegal and obscene activities on the internet is a very reason for censoring it! Such things as child sex abuse and general pornography, crush and snuff videos and endangered animals and their parts are freely available via the internet with no regulation whatsoever apart from the prosecution of a few individuals who are caught with nasty images in their possession! The bulk of criminal activity and even terrorist activity etc seems to be exempt from any competent authority dealing with it as technology has out paced law enforcement and law makers! Even the simpler crimes of fraud are flourishing with the Brooklyn Bridge or its equivalent being sold daily! Whether one calls internet snooping by the authorities censorship or not there is an awful lot of content of interest to the law enforcement and intelligence services and with right safeguards for personal data etc such activities should be allowed to pursue criminals!

Missing words again! First line of my post should have had the word "good" in front of reason!
