Very sad. I have donated to WSPA in the pst to help stop this. What will it take to stop the cruelty, I wonder.

Bear bile and gallbladders have no medicinal values whatsoever...what is it going to take to make Asian countries realise this?

It's so sad that they still continue to do this!

The practice of bear biling has got to be one of the most cruel & torturous I know. These lovely bears are kept in such small cages for years on end. All the while with catheters stuck in their abdomens to drain the bile. Alot of the time these catheters are contaminated causing the bears infection. So then they pump them with antibiotics as well as drugging them all along to keep them in a sedated state. I just cannot fathom that humans could be so callous, cruel & uncaring for these bears. They are so nice natured & playful by heart. To know that they will never have the freedom to roam & just be bears to feel the sun on their backs!! All for the most inane of reasons like the bile has medicinal properties. It absolutely breaks my hart that as I am writing this comment so many of these bears are suffering terribly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have signed many petitions and joined a couple of groups to learn more about what I can do to help end this atrocity.

This isn't even news. The chinese will stop at nothing when it comes to animal abuse/torture/killing to fuel their inane need for animal parts for useless traditional medicines. The whole country is mentally deficient. These concoctions never made anyone's dick harder or stopped any illness. They live in the dark ages and all the world's animals are paying for it with their lives.

It is so sad that it continues. We can't give up hope for these bears and have to keep advocating for their release. I have heard that South Korea is considering stopping the bear bile practice. I hope that it is true.

With all the talk of China's abuse of rights, the bear is being totally abused for bile medications that have little to no proof they work to begin with. It is a horrible tradition that must stop and affecting bear populations across the globe

The Chinese culture is very schizophrenic. China turns out brilliant mathematicians, scientists and computer guys, and their work ethic is second to none... but so very many of them have no soul, no tenderness, little sense of the needs of living creatures, whether they be humans or animals. I have come to regard the Chinese as more "mechanical" than "human." And the idiocy of those "folk medicines!" What a joke! Have they truly never noticed that these animal parts just DON'T give them a bigger penis or more bravery or greater intelligence...! Their stupidity is exceeded only by their abject cruelty, and the torture and "milking" of these poor, poor bears attests to that fact like nothing else.

As I've said many times before, BOYCOTT ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING MADE IN CHINA! Our government won't/can't do anything against China because "they are our bankers." But WE THE PEOPLE sure can. Boycott them! Especially any foodstuffs.

Several months ago it was reported on our Care 2 site that some of these bastard firms wanted go on the stock market with bear pile products.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Are there any Chinese activists who could find out?

I agree, our leaders are kissing the dirty butts of the Chinese government in hope that a little tingle will come into our sagging economy - they are just too blind to see th at they are barking up the wrong tree.

Is this something new, or surprising? Most of us have known about this for years, and nothing has been done!!! Animal cruelty and torture is rampant in China, and some other Asians countries, of this world . "BOYCUT", is the only way to stop this...read every label on every product before buying ... if made in China or other Asian country put it back on the shelf! When the stores realize that certain products do not sell, they will stop carrying them! " Cheaper ", never means better!!!!!

Animals Asia and other groups are doing their best to save a few of the thousands of bears interred in rusty crates in filthy darkness. I only hope there is a judgment day for the miserable asians who practice horrific treatment of animals==i.e.-boiling dogs alive,. skinning cats for fur while many are alive. How can an "enlightened society" be so completely ignorant and heartless. I can only say to everyone who wrote on this blog with caring words_GOD BLESS!

I wish someone would spread a rumour that those who use bear bile will suffer a painful death. I sometimes wish there were no bears in this world as they suffer so hideously in Asia. I'm afraid China and other countries in Asia have blotted their copy book as far as cruelty and ignorance is concerned, and they are to blame for the near demise of the rhino and of course still hunger for ivory and eat everything that walks crawls and flies on the planet- what does one do ? why don't governments intervene ? well they probably think like many people in this world that 'they're only animals'.
