Rajasthan is about to launch the Rs.50 million Project Panther, as a large number of these big cats fall prey to poachers or get killed by villagers after straying into human habitats, a forest official said Tuesday.

The scary thing is that I do think most lawmakers & business people are aware they choose their pocket books & personal greed over all else! Unethical

I'm all for "Project Panther", & hope they can attain some success with it. No animal especially these magnificent, big cats should be punished & or poisoned for just doing what it is in their nature to do!

If the villages can be equipped with nonlethal deterrent equipment to run the cats away from human habitation, and the poachers can be hunted into extinction instead of the cats, it might actually work. A curious cat repelled by a firehose stream is still alive, as opposed to the one getting shot at for scaring townsfolk.

What a gorgeous animal. If these cats become extinct in the wild, it will be a real tragedy.

Ecclesiastes, 3:19-20
"For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other; they all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from dust, and all turn to dust again."

Let's hope it is done for the right reasons!

Punish poachers! Destroy them our oust them from society; put them all on an island without animals. Let them live and die by their own laws.

Thank you, Simone. When will poachers understand that when all panthers have been killed, they won't have any left to poach? Poachers just deserve to be caught (which I hope) and sentenced.

Hope this works. I think we should all be able to poach the poachers. Any poacher caught needs to be killed just like what they are doing to this worlds animals. Anyone caught with animal parts or in the business should get the same treatment.
