Last night Senator Bernie Sanders hosted town hall meeting on how Donald Trump and his Republican Reich abandoned the international nuclear weapons deal with Iran. Here is the complete video. I’ll just let Bernie and his panel speak for themselves, without comment, but you need to know that the video is over an hour long.

I may not have the stamina to make it to the ends, but I'll do a little stream of consciousness while I can.

(Sigh) Even Bernie is saying "withdraw" instead of "violate."

I agree Iraq was even a worse blunder than Vietnam - exactly because at the time of Iraq we already had the example of Vietnam. At the time of Vietnam we had no such example to show us where our decisions would lead. But that's the only difference.

Of course any number of examples don't help if our elected leadership is willfully determined to be stupid!

I thought Bernie's comments on the issues with US embassy, Israel and Palestinians were even better.

tRump's endless [bleep]ing up has made the USA irrelevant. Which is really bad, when one considers what are the most powerful countries on this planet after us, or rather, after us before the Tangerine Trog.

As Joanne said, Iraq was more of a blunder than Vietnam, for the reasons stated, but, then, we had another dumb fooling office, and a viper at his side egging him on. Ya hear me, Dickie boy? Pulling out of the Iran treaty, is nothing short of lighting a fuse, walking away, and later, saying “Man, did you see what those bad boys did?” Pull out of the treaty, move the embassy...rub dirt in your adversary's face, kick him/her in the groin, and then blame him/her for responding in anger? Sure, that's the ticket!

First the DNC needs to be disinfected of republican white walkers and the King of the night. Then back to our grassroots and I expect Bernie to run and win. Pick a VP like Biden, Oprah or Joe Kennedy. It could happen

Excellent posting, TomCat. And Kudos for progressive Bernie Sanders for hosting this, and other, town hall meeting on this incredibly important subject. His panel members may all be chosen because they think violating the deal is wrong, even Lara Friedman who represents a Jewish organisation, but they are well chosen because they they are all able to take a very broad view on the situation and can discuss all possible consequences of this violation.

Of course none of the consequences are positive, but then in America only the White House and GOP would applaud another chance of war and further destabilisation in the Middle East because it will bring in so much money in terms for weapon sales and replacement of used and lost material. In the ME it’ll give Saudi Arabia and some other Sunnite countries, and Israel more power (and land?) in the region. The Big Deal-Maker has brokered the worst deals in history, but you’ve got to hand it to him: in record time.

Unfortunately, I feel asleep after about 20 minutes, but until then, things were what I expected. Kudos to Bernie for holding these town halls and streaming them, not because of an election but because the American people deserve to know what is happening and the background.

I knew about the Iranian history going back to before the US/UK skulduggery. But I doubt many Americans do, so this is important in laying down the current events in context.

Resist, Persist, Remove!!!

Silence is Consent!!!

The ONE thing the world was able to count on from the US was that despite our political changes every four years, each administration would honor treaties and negotiations created by previous administrations. Why on earth would Kim Un now negotiate a treaty or anything else with us as Trump has now trashed the idea that our word was our bond no matter what. He has completely ruined our diplomatic reputation and relations. If the world can't trust this country to honor its commitments why would anyone ever bother negotiating with us? The big "deal" maker, the expert "negotiator" has just proven our word is no good and will change with each administration. He's done a lot of harm in his brief time in office but perhaps none greater than this.
