In a newly-published interview with GQ magazine, Karl Rove says Obama's reluctance to wear a flag pin on his lapel may translate as elitism to many blue collar democrats.

"That comment where he said, you know, 'After 9/11, I didn't wear a flag lapel pin because true patriotism consists of speaking out on the issues, not wearing a flag lapel pin?’ Well, to a lot of ordinary people, putting that flag lapel pin on is true patriotism. It's a statement of their patriotic love of the country. And for him to sit there and dismiss it as he did…" Rove added.

"After a while, you start noticing people wearing the lapel pin but not acting very patriotic,” he said then. “My attitude is that I'm less concerned with what you're wearing on your lapel than what's in your heart. You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those ones who serve."

As a supporter of Obama I agree that our actions speak louder than our words but I was a bit disappointed he does not wear one. Thanks Kathy.

Strictly speaking, it's not right to wear the flag on one's clothing anyway as per us code:
The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform, except that a flag patch may be used on the uniform of military personnel, fireman, policeman and members of patriotic organizations.

Karl Rove... A filthy, degenerate Republican pig if there ever was one!

My apologies to pigs. :)

I don't wear a pin. But Bush wears one. Is he patriotic..I think not. After all he did have alot to do with 9/11. Oh and what about the Hurricane Katrina Victims. How could he still wear a pin after that..Bush I'm talkin' about. Wearing a flag pin doesn't susbstitute what you DON'T do for your country.

Frankly, this action of Senator Obama speaks volumes..., but one can ignore it, if they choose. Yes, it disappoints me very much, since he is running to be President.

Karl Rove disappoints me very much, too, So I guess I will call this one even. I am sorry, but Rove is just..., not right, beyond I agree Charles, that was an insult to pigs..heehee.
