As more Americans turn to charity amid worsening economic gloom, operators of food banks and other aid groups are relying on the surprisingly resilient generosity of their neighbors and finding that even when times are tough, people still give.

BTW: THERE IS STILL MUCH TO DO!!! This year there thousands of families who are not eligible for food bank service, yet now have much less money than they'd had with jobs.

Damn, just when it looks like we americans are a bunch of assholes, we prove we are not. Good things still do happen in this country.
