For those of you that can't get to the site here is this news!

" Libre continues to fight. On Wednesday, Janine finally was able to hold the puppy as she updated everyone on the organization’s Facebook page stating it was the first time she was able to hold him since he arrived at the vet:

“…Thinking of you lying alone to die a lonely death, hurts me more than words can describe. Thinking of you never knowing an ounce of love makes my heart break in to a million pieces. .
But please know this. You are no longer alone. You have a whole village behind you. You have brought tears to thousands of people. With every little improvement you make , you put smiles on those same faces. And with your strength and courage to fight and live, you have made the doubters believe.“

With hopes you will soon be running around, wagging your tail and doing all the playful antics expected from puppies…

Libre update

As families and friends gathered together to celebrate the 4th of July, the Speranza Animal Rescue volunteers were called to help after a woman discovered an emaciated, dehydrated puppy during her walk on Monday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The puppy had been left for dead; fortunately the good Samaritan brought the pup to an emergency veterinarian where the rescue organization’s founder, Janine Guido rushed to help. The puppy was in and out of consciousness, barely breathing, and according to the vet was one of the worst cases of neglect and abuse she had ever seen.

“She assumed I wanted to let him go. To have him euthanized, and when I said do whatever you need to do for him to have a chance, she had a surprised tone in her voice. And she said ok.”

There was the acrid smell of necrotic flesh, but as Janine looked down and saw the tiny head peeking out of the blanket, the doctor stating the puppy’s chances for survival were slim, she just couldn’t turn her back. And at that moment, the puppy dubbed Libre became a new family member of the Speranza Animal Rescue.

Miraculously surviving the night, Libre arrived at Dillsburg Veterinary Clinic early Tuesday morning. Testing positive for demodectic mange, secondary skin infections that continue to ooze and maggots emanating from open sores, Libre remains in critical condition.

Libre the puppy 2

An update from the animal hospital indicates Libre is:

“We are treating his wounds/infection with strong antibiotics, IV fluids, pain medication and Therapy Laser. We continue to flush maggots from his wounds as this is a timely process. Dr. Pryor was able to feed him some wet food..he actually gobbled it down quickly and then lifted his little head up on his own!!!Although he is still in very critical condition, he is a fighter and is being lifted up with all your prayers🐾”

And everyone is working and praying for Libre’s survival. He’s just a baby, who most likely has only experienced a short life of horror and misery."

Get Well Precious one

UPDATE 1 pm 6/7/16
Dillsburg Veterinary Center

We are getting flooded with questions and concerns regarding Libre. Hopefully this will answer a lot of your questions/concerns...
Libre is a Boston Terrier approximately 3-4 months old. He is still in very critical condition and is cared for around the clock. We are treating him with the best medical care possible, along with giving him lots of love. Janine, owner of Speranza Animal Rescue, will determine his foster/adopter after he is medically released from us which can take several weeks. There currently is an investigation going on regarding Libre's condition. If you would like to make any donations to his medical expense please call us at 717-432-7031 and 100% will go directly to his care. The only thing we ask of you is prayers for Libre.

There is a much better picture of Libre, I wish I could post it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT.

Another update :)

Libre says "Happy Friday early morning" and "THANK YOU" for all your prayers and well wishes because they are working! God is Good!!!! Thousands of people are asking how they can help this puppy. Besides continued prayers, Speranza Animal Rescue (the non-profit organization that is responsible for rescuing Libre) can surely use any financial help you can give them. We have worked closely with them for the past 3 years and they rescue the "worst or the worst", the dogs that a lot of people would look the other way. Janine, the owner of the rescue, will do and provide whatever these dogs need medically. Money never becomes an obstacle. God always provides! Besides financial donations, any local residents can drop off any of the following items at our office. All items will be used for Libre and the other 50 dogs at the rescue in Mechanicsburg....pee pads, coconut oil, vegetable baby food, toys for Libre (he will need them soon), towels, smaller sized blankets, durable toys/Kongs for the other dogs and dog treats. Thank you and have a blessed weekend. We will keep you updated throughout the weekend.

Sat. July 9 UPDATE! :)
Libre Update-It is almost midnight here but little Libre is the most active he has ever been. He is up on all fours (with a little help). His attitude was great tonight and his skin looks so much better only after two medicated skin soaks. His temperature was normal tonight and he ate/drank on his own. Thank you Lord Jesus! Continue to pray for Libre.
