Save Monarch Butterfly Habitat At The Rainforest Site!

Monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles each year to "overwinter" in the forests of sunny Mexico. The forests provide unique conditions which enable these gorgeous creatures to survive in freezing temperatures and conserve energy stores until....

Keith, are you serious? You honestly believe that people are going to willingly just stop shopping? That is a nice and nobel idea now all we have to do is get the entire planet to agree. It would be nice if people would shop more ONLINE instead og building Mall after Mall and taking away the homes of animals. If you are going to shop this is a great idea. You save land with everything you by and it's also a very safe place to shop. Don't go to the Mall this year!!!

Thank you Donna Fusco!

My daughter is now 18 but I have bought her tons of stuff through this site over the years. It's very safe place to shop if your going to. Last year I saved around 150 thousand square feet of Rainforest land just by shopping for her there! I have been shopping there for years and it is very safe. So please forward this onto your friends and have them Note this story.

Mari, I agree if we could shop online we would be saving so many trees. The rainforest provides 40% of the oxygen in the air, only 1% of the rainforests have been discovered. There are 1500 species of flower plants. 150 different species of trees. The rainforest holds a wealth of undiscovered information, but if its gone what happens to us and also learning more?

I love the rain forest site, thanks for bring this to our attention.
My heart breaks with what is being done to rain forests the world over, it's not just rain forests it's also old growth forests. When these are destroyed sometimes they are replanted, sounds fine but it's not. Quite often they are replanted with Genetically modified trees and plants and also once the forest floor is altered the damage is complete, it can never return to it's previous state. Species that reside in these areas are so often wiped out.
The sad part is in the case of old growth forests is that many are pulped for toilet paper.
I have a rule in our home now if we are buying gifts they must not harm the earth, they must benefit both the earth and mankind or they can be handmade or second hand. It really puts thought back into gift giving. A wonderful Christmas type tree is one you can plant after Christmas, or make it one that is edible such as a fruit tree.

well done for @ least trying to point people in the rightdirection mari.....who knows where it may lead?
If nothing else it may lead to added "daily clicks"......every little helps!
I'm curious to know what was the last thing keith bought...& why?.....daily food most probably!
& if everyone sought to shop as locally as possible..... avoided factory farmed goods....& supported local industry wherever possible.....the impact on the envirement.....not to mention the local economy....& it's health & welfare......may amaze even the most ardent sceptic!

I've asked for trees and donations to Heifer International this year for my gifts. I've got enough stuff. I click everday at the Hunger, Rainforest, etc. sites. They've changed their website so it is even quicker to do the 6 clicks, it's the first thing I do when I turn on my computer. Only take a second to give a cup of food, and 5 more actions FREE to you! Thanks, Mari!

I hate shopping malls and so I don't ever go to them if I can help it-there are easier ways to shop than go to the mall. There are plenty of stores that aren't part of the huge shopping malls which give me the willies...they are just too much....try life w/o malls you might even like it.....notedshared

My son called me last night and said that in reality there is really not a lot of point buying Christmas gifts as none of us really need anything, so his suggestion was that we all pool our money and donate it to an environmental cause. Currently the big one on my list is the pulp mill they are going to build in Tasmania. this will put 64,000 tons of effluent into a pristine ocean and also make extinct the Tasmanian eagle. Watch the movie on you tube called 'Tasmania's Clean Green Future: Too Precious To Pulp?'
I just feel quite proud that he thinks like this, one gift he will be buying.........his girlfriend has asked him for a diamond, so he has found a jeweler that only uses ethical diamonds.
I don't shop on malls as the toxins are off the scale, I prefer a more relaxed method of shopping.

Thank you for sharing that Youtube video Glenda!

I am proud of your son too! That's awesome! Pool all your money together and donate:) That's awesome! I do not need anything really either so I am asking for trees in the Monarch Forest. But I'd like more information on who you all are donating to also! Your idea is awesome Glenda! It's great to know there are such giving and loving people in this World.

Lyn Z, love redjellyfish & ecologyfund too! In Fact Ecologyfund is saving the Monarch Forest! Another one of my news stories. You'll see the cry for help after you click on reduce pollution at ecologyfund.

Hi Mari,
I am smiling, thanks for your encouraging words:) And for the work you are doing to help the environment, the environment needs more people like you!
I am thinking that the wilderness society who is funding the court battle to stop the pulp mill would be a good Idea. But my son is thinking of a carbon offset program, we are all going to do some research on this and see which one adds up the best. I am open to suggestions though, I like the sound of the forest for the monarch butterflies too, their travels are so amazing and we need to retain their habitat.
I also purchased our Christmas tree today, a nectarine tree which is over 6 ft tall. We will plant this after Christmas and make a ceremony of it, that way our UnChristmas celebration will be remembered.
I really feel that by donating my children get to feel how wonderfully empowering giving is, it is something that they will always remember, but a $50.00 gift would be forgotten only weeks after it is received.
My daughter writes me poems and those are my most treasured gifts, no money was needed and yet the gift is priceless. My favourite is one she wrote me for mothers day.
I suppose I want my kids to understand there is more to Christmas that just receiving. Mind you my kids are not little anymore so it is a bit easier.

Noted Mari and thanks for bringing this very important issue to the forefront, we need to be more aware of our surroundings, & I hate to go to the mall, also hate shopping!! I love planting and gardening and animals, to me my gift is to let the animals and people in my life know just how much I care and love if spending money tells someone you care then we all have things very backwards!!! Just do everything you can to help the voiceless and save our rainforests thru donating and this will give your heart some balance, leave the shopping to the crazies whom love to hop in a vechicle and pollute the air even more!! Sorry folks, but the "Pomma Truth", is a troll. They are a one or both of a troll team that come to Care 2, and numerous websites to post issues that they know nothing about, and have never stepped into nature a day in their lives. Both are city people that have done nothing to assist in the willing, friendly discussion on any issue. But rather stir conflict and cause trouble wherever they go online. Do not respond to them in any form or fashion, but please report them, and flag them so Care 2 can deal with the trolls in a legal manner.
This "Pomma Truth is using a portion of my other personal handle that I have used for over 10 years.
This is how they operate. If your start arguing with them you become a target, and they will do everything they can to destroy what you value the most online and offline. Do not disclose any personal info, nor engage in posting to them. You will not get anywhere but give them what they want the most. Acknowledging their ability to aggravate you to no end, and turn your friends against here on Care 2.
They just seach now for my post on Care 2 and other websites when I use "Wolfweep's", and they start their games again. I know how they operate.
Just flag them and tag them.
