Stop the Anti-Immigrant, Anti-Worker SAVE Act :

Please call your Representative today to stop the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) a deportation-only immigration proposal.

Tell your Congressional office:

Please say NO to the H.R. 4088 discharge petition for the SAVE Act. Instead, I want humane immigration reform that protects our rights. The SAVE Act (H.R. 4088):

Hurts every U.S. worker by using a faulty verification system for all workers, without safeguarding their labor rights and privacy.

Increases imprisonment of children by expanding family detention space without addressing concerns about the way the government treats those who are already detained, including children and their families.

Wastes taxpayer dollars by putting resources toward ineffective border fencing without addressing the root causes of migration.
At a time when our nationís economy is frail and weakened, we urge you to support immigration policies that stop the wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars, produce humane and sensible solutions, and keep immigrant families together.

I have previously sent my Rep. in Congress and the Senate an e-mail regarding this bill. They are voting against the bill, and that's good news for Massachusetts.

Thanks Jill

I've been trying to curb "the hate speech" here on Care2; see what you think of the news articles below:

Amazingly, Blue, some of the people who have noted THIS article also noted one (or both) of the posts you've provided the links to !

I have suspected that some people don't note on the basis of conviction !
They just note - anything! Sometimes people don't even know what they're noting.
It's like elections, in a way...

I made a comment on on of those posts, the 'cost of illegal immigration' (i wasn't able to watch the other one, it sickened me)
I was amazed at the biased language used in the CNN report in the 'cost' clip. You could make a linguistics study of all the terms like "pouring","bulging" and "crowding"("schools, hospitals & prisons" - like we should be resentful of these people educating their children and falling ill...)

Here's what I said :
US corporations are doubly responsible for all of these people pouring into the US.
Firstly, the companies and corporations who are taking advantage of the cheap labor they provide.
And, even more important, the multinational corporations who pushed for NAFTA which has never stopped causing impoverishment in the immigrants' countries.

You can't have it both ways, you can't support World Bank and World Trade Organization policies more or less dictated by the US and then complain about the result of the misery these policies create -

Attack the causes of poverty in the countries the immigrants come from -

Don't attack immigrants : they are simply the victims of US trade policy !
