"In Burma's second city, Mandalay, the streets are full of bicycles at rush hour as men and women head to their places of work and study.

But behind the picture-postcard setting of palaces and stupas [temples], is a country where people can be arrested for telling a joke or having a photograph of jailed pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Behind closed doors, in the security of their homes and among those they can trust, people hand out pictures of Ms Suu Kyi.

To be caught by police with her photograph is cause enough to be imprisoned. To be caught talking to a foreign journalist means risking a sentence to a term in one of Burma's many jails.

But people are angry and want the world to know of their plight and their reverence for the woman referred to as The Lady.

She is the symbol of what was and what may be. "

In a country where a person could be arrested an sent to prison for giving another person a drink of water, she is as inspiring to the populace as Joan of Arc was to the French people, I hope this military government realizes this.

Evil is allowed to continue just for the greed of the world. We talk about it, horror, horror, but it carries on and on.

These Generals are the worlds pits. Why they have not been charged by ithe International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights for the criminals they are?.Their actions in continuing to defy world public opinion is a sure sign of the paranoia with which they are surrounded. These Generals are the epitome of corrupition and evil. The way in with they have treated Aung San Suu Kyi is nothing short of criminal.I believe they do this because in the main these Generals, self appointed I am sure, are secretly afraid of her. They are afraid of the retribution that awaits them just round the corner.Aung San is a very courageous lady and is deserving of our support.Long live demoracy.
