" A spark of lightening on September 13 started the fire, but it was not detected until 10 days later in the Arnica Creek area, according to the National Park Service. It is burning an area east of the park's main attraction, the Old Faithful geyser.

The Arnica Fire has exploded in size in recent days, growing from 4 acres on Wednesday to 250 the following day. Warm, windy conditions continued to fuel the blaze, which spread to 1,600 acres on Friday and then charred more than 6,500 acres over the weekend to reach its current size."

SOMETHING IS MISSING IN THIS PICTURE! THIS IS A NATIONAL PARK AND IT TOOK 10 DAYS TO 'DISCOVER' THAT THERE WAS A WILD FIRE? FROM 4 ACRES DESTROYED TO OVER 6,500 ACRES AND IT IS STILL OUT OF CONTROL? THE MAGNITUDE OF THE DEVASTATION AND DESTRUCTION OF NATURAL HABITATS, FLORA AND FAUNA IS BEYOND BELIEF !!!!

You are so right Rosemary..It is sad to see the neglect that has taken place not just in Yellowstone..but so many of our National parks..It's very sad indeed..
