A pair of false teeth worn by Winston Churchill have sold at auction for more than $23,000 -- on the same day that plans were announced to put the British wartime leader's archive papers online for the first time.

If Churchill were alive to day he would be banned under breed specific legislation against Bulldogs! Hitler would no doubt have wanted to add the great man's gold dental work to that stolen from the Jews!

What an odd thing to buy, and if chruchhill were alive he'd be even more well off with that money.

HE WAS VERY CAPABLE AND GOOD FOR GREAT BRITAIN DURING 2ND WORLD WAR BUT HE WAS THE CHIEF OPPONENT OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF INDIA.IF HIS TRUE TEETH WERE GIVEN TO ME INSTEAD OF FALSE I WOULD REFUSE TO KEEP IT.HE WANTED TO KEEP INDIA HIS COLONY TILL NOW.

He may have been the Leader in his time, but then he was well off and his family we rich also...what I hated was the way the young men were sent to the front line, [not him] there families was not compensated at all.....and who the hell wants to buy his teeth...must be sick or got more money than sense....

I can think of far better things to spend such a vast amount of money on, I find it obscene the fact that somebody has.

Why would anyone want to buy false teeth? It appears that even Mr. Churchill did not want them as they buried him without his teeth.

well those that have too much money, don't know what to do with it, so they buy things like this. Who know why people collect the things they do even on a much smaller monetary value?

Now, I'm not expert, but paying $23,000 for Churchill's false teeth, not even the set (botton and top) seems like he lost money on the deal;-)
I think we all can appreciate Frank Lornitzo's humor ;-)

Take care,
JO

Churchill fought in the Boer War - he was too old to fight in the Second World War - but what a magnificent leader he was for us Brits at that time. His inspirational words were all that kept us going then.
By the way - Churchill was not a rich man by the days standards., It was only through writiing his memoirs that he was able to keep his home - Chartwell - which was mortgaged to the hilt and he had many creditors.
Alamzeb - he may not have wanted to lose India but much good was done by installing the education system and Westminster system of Government you have today. Since India became independent upheavals and assassinations have been manifold.
Margo Skinner - madam you just don't know what you are talking about. Who ever got compensated for fighting a war?

What I wanted to state is I would NOT pay for any other person's teeth except for my own...it costs to much to fix my mouth, goodness, I wouldn't pay for another person's mouth unless I was SO RICH I could really afford to do so,

Goffy people, give the money to animals!!
