I have always liked to hug power plants. We could put the waste in old mines. Or even grind it up real fine and spread it by air over countries like North Korea. They wouldn't even know it.

I am glad I do not live hear a power plant as I would always expect a bad situation to occur. There has been some unexpected bad failures in some of these power plants. The public that lives within a radius of a power plant has to have specific instructions of what to do and where to go in the event of a mishap. Will the government do that?

Douglas! I hope you're being sarcastic or flip! I live near ponds of old mining tailings they aren't good for the water. and Water does everywhere (hint hint).

I think that the first one should be built in the White House next to the family quarters!

serge, you a right, now that Obama is on it, they will never be built, just talked about a lot! Better than a total ban on Nuclear reactors, except we will still have to pay for them, just won't get them!

Everybody wants power, as long as no fossil fuel, nuclear, or wind power is used as its risky, makes noise, ruins scenery, etc. Solar power is a good component of an overall plan, but like hydro, inadequate to supply the needs of todays world. How many are willing to return to the 19th century to keep power generation risk, noise, and hassle free?

How stupid nuclear power seems to me - we do not know how to properly dispose of this waste, which will be a powerful contaminant for thousands of years - plus the potential for terrorists strikes, earthquakes, etc.
Nuclear power comes with too many costs that we can not afford to pay!

Also agree with Dennis. The cost-effectiveness is very low when all is considered. Still remember the Chernobyl accident with radioactive clouds poisoning my backyard from over a 1000 kilometres away. There is no room for mistakes with nuclear reactors and sooner or later we humans all make mistakes.

It must be deepest middle age in USA were they still kill human life (own prisonors) and where they make energy still in atomic power plants.
Foreighners must pay $10 entry to go to visit USA. How foolish? Is it a museum? :;-o
Become adult.;-)
Ask your astronauts, please. They know and understand more.
In Germany they will turn off all atomic power plants till 2030. I hope it will be earlier.
