First they came for the poor which began under the Reagan years. Welfare cuts. mental health cuts. Deregulations. This abuse of power escalated, NAFTA, further cuts to programs that aided the less fortunate under Clinton &, a republican led congress. That's one of many reasons "We" have 17 million children in need, 1 million going to bed with hunger pangs each night! Nothing trickled down to the poor, small biz, middle class nor seniors living on the edge!

The Middle class was systematically being bankrupt due to corrupt business practices, outrageous medical costs, etc, poor quality items, you name it while the top 2% made out like the bandits they are the rest of the nation paid in spades. Now they've escalated their assault on the middle class. Millions of Americans have or are losing their homes. Many of the middle class cared not when they came for the poor or those injured in unsafe work environments, etc.. Now who will speak for them?

I went to many meetings in the 90's, was an unpaid lobbyist, held rally's, wrote articles while I listened to those who represented the small business, middle class, individual. I attempted to explain that this folly of the big boys, major corporations, plutocrats, TV ads, paid for by major players determined to undermine the rights of the least of these, would be coming for them, knocking on their door soon. But my ideas were met with contempt.

As a small business person I saw that the enemy was not going to stop until they usurped everything in their path! And so here "We" are! Are we having fun yet? Sarcasm was not one of my faults but I "Dare" say, I'm tired of seeing how gr$$d and or fear will make good people shoot themselves in their own foot!

You cannot currently send a star to Bohm because you have done so within the last week.

It is sad that people don't remember life lessons. I am almost to the point with the American people that I don't care - as the old saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me." How many times will they elect the person with the best advertising? Or as Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi said:

"SEVEN SOCIAL SINS
"The same fair friend [Gandhi] wants readers of Young India to know, if they do not already, the following seven social sins:
"1. Politics without principles
"2. Wealth without work
"3. Pleasure without conscience
"4. Knowledge without character
"5. Commerce without morality
"6. Science without humanity
"7. Worship without sacrifice.
"Naturally, the friend does not want the readers to know these things merely through the intellect but to know them through the heart so as to avoid them."
Young India, 22-10-1925

Noted and thanks for the article, Judith. Sorry, Patrick, magnificient post but can't give you a green star this time. Yes, Raen, once upon a time in the United States, there used to be something known as the middle class... people who worked every day, paid their bills and actually managed to have a halfway decent life. Then an evil wizard came down from the silver screen and decided the middle class was doing too well, so he decided to punish them. He decided the money rightly belonged at the top... they would get everything, and the middle and lower classes would get theirs by the trickle down effect. Today, America is guilty of all 7 social sins as Patrick listed above... our country is destroying itself from the inside because it has lost it's morality, conscience, humanity and principles that once made it great. The working poor, disabled, seniors and the hungry have been reduced to little more than dirt beneath the feet of the wealthy, corporations and Wall Street where greed and control rule the land.

Seems to me America gets 100%
A for appalling: to horrify, dismay or shock
