Infants aged three growing up in homes that use the fossil fuel for heating or cooking are 1.3 cm smaller than those in properties with electricity or gas central heating.

The one significant flaw in these findings is the fact that up until say fifty years ago virtually all heating was by open coal fires and the rise in child hood asthma for example post dates this period. Perhaps that is why our stone age ancestors and of course the sailors of Nelson's Navy were so much shorter than us! So our ancestors were either healthier than us albeit shorter or modern pollutants are to blame either with fossil fuels or separate from them from it.Of course the consumption of oil has increase dramatically in that period along with unhealthy eating and lifestyles! Maybe the remit of these study was too narrow!

I think you must look at the big picture. I know that automobile exhaust is not good for you and that snow used to be white.
I grew up in Eastern Ky, we had coal mines everywhere. We used coal for heating and cooking. I am very healthy. I will agree that it may not be the best for us but it is not the worse. Just look at the medications people are taking for one problem and the medication creates more issues from the side affects.
