Despite campaigning on a platform that endorsed having "a nuclear-free world" in the not so distant future, United States President Barack Obama is overseeing an administration that's aim has taken another path, the New York Times reported this week.

It is hard now to remember the sheer hope of the presidential campaign running up to the '08 election. Candidate Obama promised to put the nation back on track after 8 years of Bush. Candidate Obama was going to end the wars, end the domestic surveillance, get rid of nuclear weapons, and he was going to implement a "GreenNewDeal" style program that would put millions of Americans back to work cleaning up our environment and transitioning us to a more sustainable future.

Then he was elected. And all we got was Bush 2.0. President Obama has expanded the wars, the drone strikes, the domestic #PoliceState, the funding for nuclear weapons, the corporate subsidies especially to Big Oil, and by supporting trade agreements like the TPP and the TTIP, exported more American jobs overseas than the last half dozen of his predecessors. If anything can ultimately summarize the legacy of this President, it would be that President Obama has done more to fulfill Mitt Romney's agenda than Ol' Mitt ever could have done on his own. And this is exactly why we need #SystemChange.
