police say they will take a non-confrontational approach initially, if fact they have told newspapers that they will not act on this law as they have not got the manpower to stop the cars.

Even though I am a smoker, I totally agree with banning smoking in cars when children are present. I remember when I was a kid and both my parents smoked. It was absolutely horrible for my brother and I when windows were rolled up. This even happened in the summer (before air-conditioning) because my mom didn't like the windows down more than a tiny crack because the wind would mess up her hair.
