From: Save the Wolves

Heya Everyone!

I thought I would let you all know about a company that a member of our friends list let us know about.

It is a company which is trapping endangered animals in the world:
Mountain Lions, Arctic and North American Timber wolves, Wolverines, Arctic Foxes, and Beavers.
They kill the animals, and have a taxidermist mount them on helmets to
sell to the public. They are also making beaver fur swimming suits!!

Here is an example of the things they are doing.

To kill these beautiful animals is unacceptable...but to make a profit from their death is even more terrible.

their website they have listed ways to contact them. Therfore you can
contact this company to express your concern, grievance or protest to
their killing of animals and making a profit from their remains.

Attila The Hun Custom Ski Apparel
P O Box 497; Spinnerstown, PA 18968
Telephone: 215-529-9160

If you also know of any animal rights/anti-fur groups that would like to know about this then please contact them.

is also an events page on the website where dates are posted to places
they will be selling these helmets(sturgis, motorcycle rallies, etc).

We as humans have the power to save these majestic breathtaking animals. What this company is doing is cruel and wrong.

all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of
spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man. All
things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of
the Earth."

This is appalling...and the flaming ***holes in the picture should be ashamed of themselves, standing there grinning like sub-humans. I hope they're very proud of themselves, the producers, purchasers ands wearers of these poor creatures who despite the best effort of humans cling to existence. BOOO HISSS! Why aren't the people who perpetrate this jailed?

Thank you for submitting this upsetting story! Awareness of atrocities creates action ~ I have just gone to
their website and submitted a plea to cease the taxidermy.

uuummmm, I'm native American. We wear stuff kind of like that. I don't think that others should wear it. The only people that should be allowed to wear it is the Native American people. To us it is very sacred.

This is a disgrace. I am soooo mad that I can't see straight. It takes an idiot to buy and wear this. An even bigger idiot to make it. I will be sending letters. Thank You Echo.

These people are morons (and they look it!) Why would anyone want to wear a dead animal on their head is beyond me. Leave these beautiful animals alone. Stop the killing.

i too, feel very sad that animals must sacrifice their lives for their fur to be on the top on a human's head and then have them laugh, smile, and grin. the pic is very disturbing...i have forwarded this to my gal pals back east to let them send on also...thankx for this post, and letting us know.

Pamela, the biggest difference between the low-lifes that make/sell/wear thes thinga and the Native Peoples is stated in the last sentence of your post! It's sacred to you. It's not a gimmick. It's not for 'fun'. It's not to 'be cool'. The reverence for and gratitude to the animals the Native Americans have shows the respect of life and nature. I admire you and your People greatly.
As for PETA - no comment (sorry Folks)

There is no way to 'politely' tell these people to stop. As long as they can make money from it they will. There's only one way to put a stop to that....

Self-centered profiteering, plain and simple. "It's here for me to use and profit on, who cares about anyone or anything else, it's all about me." That's the attitude, and I don't know who is the worse offender: the company or their customers!

When any creature is deprived of its life, power, and beauty- it is because it is the only way some think they can control them. If anythings purpose is not understood there will be abuse. Sometimes I think that I am one of the few people not shocked by the intelligence of animals. The same One- my Father God created us both. Look at how we are surrounded by the variety of His expression!! Just a few thoughts- my heart hurts. And why are these people so uneducated - who deprived their souls?

I definiitely sent them a "comment" on their website. Perhaps someone should hunt them down, and make helmets out of them. But that wouldn't be humane, would it? Where do these idiots come from? They are sickening individuals who need a dose of their own medicine. I really hope someone gives it to them. I sent this article to every animal rights groups that I'm aware of. I hope everyone here does the same, and let's all pray it makes a difference.

There are Wana be Indians and wana be Mountain men. It also could be that a spirtual freedom has been found, through old traditions of the "First Peoples", and their respect for all things ,That "Great Spirit"gave rise to. Most Churches Fear, a loss of power and would discredit the indigenous peoples way of living. Perhaps in order to bolter The Capitalism of Greed, and power. For me another violation of Spirit.

We don't have to kill animals any more for their pelts as we can make fake fur that looks like the real thing. Way back when, the cave man and the indians did it to keep warm and cloth themselves. Its totally wrong to do it today.

Wolfweeps Pommawolf (251)
Wednesday July 11, 2007, 11:28 am
Animal pelts are one thing, but you can't eat a wolf. It is illegal to posses it pelt and or trophy in the lower 48 states
Native Americans know this. They don't abuse it per sa, they know their own culture.
This is blatant stupid fashion statement. Power over the posses that animal strength.
How can you have respect if your wearing an illegal pelt?

very weird, you know I can have mixed feelings about fur, I am all for the traditional people of the far north continuing to live as they always have since they use the animals for food and clothing, but this is just ridiculous on every level. These are grown people taking Davey Crocket fantasies to a new and screwed up level. The world can't afford this kind of stupidity.

You really have to look at what you are dealing with. If these fur wearing individuals had the least iota of what is involved they would not do it. They haven't a clue, a more motly group is hard to find. They are trying to find the beauty they aspire to and miss in their sad lives.

Good lord...I live in the far North, and yo rarely see people wearing animal fur here in Alaska. The Native population still hunt in the old ways, which I have a very high regard. This is still a vital to their culture and way of life. I just cannot stand to see people wearing a dead animal and its parts for a fashion statement.
I woud take a U-turn in the opposite direction.

It's absolute and flagrant disregard for all other species that share our earth. Most of these A-Holes are probably hunters as well, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll wear their "stolen" fur when they hunt, and shoot each other. Believe it or not, here in South Florida there are primping beeaatches who go to premiers and art-related occassions wearing fur, it's absolutely unforgivable. May they all rot in hell!!!

Jennie B (14)
Wednesday July 11, 2007, 9:15 pm
These people look like idiots. It's bad enough when women dress up in furs, but now men have to get in on the act and wear furs as if this makes them Native American. I wish there were a way for Native American groups to protest this horrible disgrace and stop them. I will write and complain. Everyone has already expressed my feelings exactly, now we need to take action to run them out of business, by letting them know they are disgusting to most people. Noted

The Endangered Species Act, passed in 1973, makes it illegal to sell any part of an endangered species except for antiques at least 100 years old, so why is this company still in business? They should all be in jail.

I don't like it, you don't like it, how could anyone like it? ugh!!!
new website link

BUT, it is a perfectly legal company! None of the the animals are of endangered species.
No arctic wolf pelts - original poster erred!

The pelts come from trappers from places like Alaska and Canada where there is a controlled legal harvest. And no matter how distasteful and controversial that is, or wearing fur or animal parts is, it is still legal to do so. PeTA has been stirring their red paint for years about this company. Harassing a legal company with this petition is doomed to failure. It's also the stuff of harassment lawsuits. Sorry folks.

Of course, noted, but I tried to sign the petition within the prescribed group, and the server seems to be busy! Unless animal skins are used for warmth and protection accordingly, (not necessarily for ritual purposes, not in today's society), with supplying food for the poor, especially the indigenous Native American, as an Indian these people need to be scalped!

I have trouble believing this is true. At first I thought these were animal lovers and the faces were, of course, artistic fabrications to show their support of endangered wildlife. If it's for real, it's just so gross seeing their smiling faces with murdered animals on their heads showing themselves to the world for the revolting creatures they are (the humans). And it's Pennysylvania, not some far away country doing this. I thought there was a law against killing endangered animals.

Just so you know this company has been around awhile.

And they've dealt with animal rights zealots before. Since they don't sell many of these rediculous-looking fur pieces, it's easier for them to take down their website until the no-fur AR activists move on to harass some other fur company.

I challenge anyone here to post a reply that they've received that says this company is being investigated of doing something illegal. Because they're not.

If you want to stop the wearing of fur you'll have stop wearing leather shoes, belts, etc. too.

Well, Mike, I am vegan and don't wear leather shoes, belts, silk, wool, etc. It is a life style choice that I am proud of and it makes me happy that I don't support the killing or harming of animals. I also take spiders outside, as well as bees and wasps.... even flies....I honor all life to my best ability. I also see that you have 0 friends which doesn't speak well for you.... and just because the company has been around for awhile, doesn't make what they are doing right. You also might want to check your spelling, as "rediculous" is actually spelled "ridiculous " I would say get a brain, but it really would be more important for you to get a heart and some compassion.

Mike E (0)
Thursday July 19, 2007, 10:17 am

I believe I have more true heart and compassion than you'll ever have my dear - as evidenced by the rude hostility that you have exhibited through-out your post. Perhaps that malady stems from the absence of animal protein in your diet. And just because I don't choose all that you choose, it doesn't automatically make me any less compassionate of a person! “The righteous one regards the life of his animal but the heart of the wicked is without mercy.”

And I never said the company was doing right (or wrong) - I said the company was not doing anything illegal! If you wish to evoke change in humanity, you need to go about it legally. Not with incorrect assertions of what is illegal - as this thread began with. They are not using any legally endangered animals' pelts in their business. Alaskan trappers legally kill these animals. Why not try to come up with a legitimate way to stop the trapping of animals? This company is but one of MANY companies that buy from these trappers. And if you feel so compelled to harass someone why not go to the source - the trappers.

And for you to attempt to demean me for a simple typo says a wicked lot about you.

Linda D (41)

This is a company that is in the business of converting trapped and killed endangered animals into hats and wearing apparel. It is illegal, but they are still doing it. Either there is a loop hole, or the government has other issues they consider higher priority. Maybe the loop hole is they didn't do the actual killing. Why kill any animal to make a fashion statement? Cats are popular victims in China, and sheep in Arab countries. Our early ancestors did not have cloth or sewing machines, and killed for food and used every part of the animal, including making clothing to keep warm, not to say, "Look at me!" "I'm a _________." Some of the killing practices in different countries are so vile and abhorrent all that negative energy flows into the skin and fur of the animal. Roxanne and Mike, you both have good hearts and are right and make good points. Why get so angry at each other? And as for typos, they just prove you're human.

Hello Linda

I do appreciate your more pleasant tone but I'm still sorry to say you are incorrect. No endangered animals were killed to make those atrocious fur pieces. No loopholes. Otherwise our gov't would have been swift to correct violators.
Fur-trapping is Alaska's oldest industry.
The Trappers' Code of Ethics

What was misrepresented as an Artic wolf on the Attila website is not an endangered Arctic wolf. It's an Alaskan white-phase grey wolf. They maybe less common than ordinary grey wolves but are not rare or endangered.

Lecturing me on the plight of animals anywhere in the world does not make this company illegal, no matter how "ugly"it seems.

For the record, I don't like seeing animals needlessly killed either, but that is not the point I've been trying to make.

Echo E (264)
Thursday July 19, 2007, 1:42 pm
who is doing all the "lecturing" here?

In some places mountain lions and cougars as well as some wolves are threatened and protected. There is no sure way of telling where these people are getting their animals just because they say so, but for sure they are getting them from trappers who trap ANYTHING that falls into the traps which could be an endangered animal. There is NO guarantee that they are not. So please lay off, its getting OLD!

If you want to nitpick and stick up for this company, good for you, you sound like a lobbyist for them.

I personally wont believe they are legit until I hear back from USFWS saying that it is.

Echo E (264)
Thursday July 19, 2007, 1:44 pm
And even then, what this company is doing is highly offensive to a lot of people, so its good for them to be aware of that. If what a company is doing is offensive to so many people, they should take note and find something more creative AND KIND.

Mike E., we do understand the point you were making, but have you seen how the legally trapped animals are killed? Not humanely.

Additionally, if we didn't muck about so much, we wouldn't need to "manage" wildlife. Nature would do it for us.

Well, I am not trying to make you feel as if you are being criticized for pointing out that they are legal. I do agree that we need to change things within the system. I am just sickened at the idea of wearing any kind of head other than mine.

I wish we could come up with a place to put all the abusers in the world and let them fight it out for themselves. They are making a profit on animals they trap. How fair is that? This is a cruel world we live in. Makes me sick!

You are not banned ...what are you talking about? I blocked your messages from coming thru to MY INBOX, I dont like to open my personal emails and have these false attacks coming at me......, I cannot block you from this news.

DO NOT accuse me of having some AGENDA. My only AGENDA is to stop animal cruelty and animal crimes.

Do not compare me to peta, I am an individual. Your attacks are just that - ATTACKS.

If you like this company so much I expect to see you wearing wolves on your head too claiming they are not doing anything wrong... good for you!!

Call it emotions all you want, YOU are the one coming here ATTACKING ME with YOUR EMOTIONS in favor of this company.

This story and the outcry about it only seems to be displeasing to you, EXPOSing YOUR connection to the company.

You can wait for proof this company is doing anything ILLEGAl , while I wait for proof that it is doing anything LEGAL.

ALl I did was cross post this. Your attacks are outbreaks of emotions and these ATTACKS are against Care2 code of conduct, which I plan to report right now.

Drop the attacks and take them elsewhere. Let people do what they do best here. Don't harass people .There are 1000's of groups/blogs/forums for people that enjoy this i'm sure you could join.

Leave people alone here to do what they do best.

This is wrong. If you were honest and sincere caring person you wouldn't be hiding either.
I'm so sick of this.
Sometimes some of do get stressed and may be short with someone but know enough to apologize as soon as possible.

This is attacking and stop it !!
Care2 needs to get back to the basics.

Echo, you are fine and you knwo how people think of you. It's too bad this happens and I'm sure no apology is on the way. So continue on.

The facts on their heads,etc...are enough. But there are many more facts. Do your research . You wont .Because you don't care. You just wanted to attack.

They're selling these as helmets. I would love to see a biker obnoxiously sporting this headgear, going 120mph and crashing into a brick wall.

Take your sales pitch elsewhere! Legal or not, they are a protected species in the lower 48s. I agree with the blogger on the google group. if it's only legal to hunt wolves in Alaska, then it should only be sold in Alaska. Perhaps we should start a petition for that?

Wolfweeps Pommawolf (251)
Sunday July 29, 2007, 7:59 pm
The wolves here in Alaska have a $10.00 tag you can purchase at a sporting good store, even at Walmart. VEry few wolves are trapped for their pelt alone now, the highest number of wolf kills here in this state is well over 300 since Gov. Murkowski came into office. Their goal is over 600 wolves to be slaughtered
That governor is now OUT OF OFFICE. He over rode the laws of "NO AERIAL HUNTING OF WOLVES".
Mr. Murkowski broke the law to meet the greed of aerial hunts to kill off the wolf population that they blame for the idiot hunters from the lower 48 states that pay outrageous amount of dollars to have some body take them out to track for game. If they can't get a bear..they blame the wolves, if they can't get a moose they blame the wolves. These are TROPHY HUNTER"s.

"The pelts come from trappers from places like Alaska and Canada where there is a controlled legal harvest. And no matter how distasteful and controversial that is, or wearing fur or animal parts is, it is still legal to do so. PeTA has been stirring their red paint for years about this company. Harassing a legal company with this petition is doomed to failure. It's also the stuff of harassment lawsuits. Sorry folks."

I live in Alaska, and believe me the wolves are in the radar. I challenge Mike or anybody else to tell me any different. The Ex- Governor Murkowski, and thank goodness he's out of office was the biggest fund raiser for the Republicans is Washington. He over rode the laws to please the populace that blame the wolves here for anything they want to hunt themselves.

Wolfweeps Pommawolf (251)
Sunday July 29, 2007, 8:15 pm
Oh, and by the way. Most of the wolves here are shot with a gun. Not trapped. In order to meet the request of wolf haters that want the wolves dead, you'd have to have dozens if not more of trappers to work 24/7 in order to meet the the wolf kill order of over 600 wolves. Not possible. And how can you kill a wolf with a trap from aan airplane? Oh, and by the way...they now want to use helicopters for the aerial hunts here in they can feed their grees of the slaughter.

“The righteous one regards the life of his animal but the heart of the wicked is without mercy.” This speaks to the heart of the issue. Legal or not, these activities are indeed wicked and grossly offensive. Not only cruel, but they are selling mutilated body parts of these beautiful animals as novelty items! Their only objective is to get a laugh and some cheap attention! Do they have so little going for them in the looks and personality departments, that they're reduced to seeking shock value? Is it all the the attention these losers are otherwise able to get? Hmm, can't get more pathetic than that!

This strikes such a chord because it is first an ethical issue. Any argument should be over how best to put an end to it, not over the legality of it all. To do so just seems as though the entire point has been missed.

"....Otherwise our gov't would have been swift to correct violators." I'm sorry Mike, if you are bent on aruging the FACTS of law or issues of ethics and believe this statement to be true, I have some land AND bridges for sale!

Angel Wolf, I know who the poser trolls are, they have a past history all over the net. They just love to argue about issues that matter to caring people. If it were'n't the wolves, it would be another issue that would get attacked...*S*

Your right about not arguing the legality of the wolf slaughter. All we can do now is to put a stop to it.
Many believe that those down in the lower 48 do not have the right to have a voice to make decisions regading any issue in Alaska. That is not tru. Alaska is a psrt of the U.S., and it s a part of our wilderness areas of the U.S.

Well, I am glad that this discussion is still ongoing because the more people find out about these types of atrocities the better chance we have of toughening the laws and protecting the remaining animals. Really, when our government is saying an animal population in the hundreds is healthy and no longer needs protection, alarm bells go off in my head.....There is much work to be done...I hope we have caused these creeps a ton of trouble and discomfort. They need to learn that decent caring people find their actions sick and appalling.

I don't recall how protected and endangerd things have to be, if off limmits. but in the USA it vary state to state. You can have a wolf pelt in New Jersey, but not (California?)

only Indian should have pelt. not wanna be frufru neopagen, not idiot head who think they are wolf soul, and have wolf pelt gets connection to wolf soul.
it would be like hading out crosses and t-shirts with Jesus on it to jungle savages.

you cannot respect something and kill it. like yahoos who join wars to help save people
or species people who save elephants, but give wormer to any thing "suffering" from parasites

you cannot be white heritage and have a pelt, and "honor" it by giving it a name, like you cannot give spirit to a plastic dinosaur.

joe whitey wanna be neopagen meditating on a coyote pelt to connect with coyote essence, or because they used to be one is as much of a joke as the WBC is to Christianity
you cannot have or want something because you like it.
and personal collections of animals are as vile as raping babies, or nuking live mice.

that is what I learn.
right right.
everything is black and white. and to an extrema. you are either a savior or a destroyer, a bully or a Betazoid guidance councilor

why do I post when i don't think things out?
