Thank California Governor Gavin Newsom for Declaring a Moratorium on the Death Penalty

Death penalty abolitionists won a major victory when CA Governor Gavin Newsom declared a moratorium on executions. His decision also withdraws the state's lethal injection protocol, and closed the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison.

So pleased about this decision - the death penalty has been applied against people who later turn out to have been innocent all along far too many times, and besides that, it is a barbaric and cruel tool. There must be far more effective ways of dealing with the worst criminals in any country. Many thanks for sharing, Freya.

Signed, shared and noted. The death penalty must be revoked nationally for the second time, forever.

This California resident hopes this action saves some taxpayers money now that we won't be ripped off by the "Lawyers Club", of defense attorney, prosecutors and judges, who enrich themselves with non-sensible hearings and infinitesimal appeals.

Instigation of the death penalty is essential for all animal abusing or murdering scumbags.

I can empathize with those who wish to see certain felons killed; however, it doesn't solve the problem and doesn't stop others from killing. Live in prison without parole is actually cheaper in the long run. Petition signed.
