Some 8.7 million different species exist on Earth, though a tiny amount of those have actually been discovered and catalogued, researchers said Tuesday. The count, described by the open access journal PLoS Biology in which it is presented as "the most p

Republicans promise to reduce that number to 4 million, give or take. As one fictional Republican member of Congress said recently when asked his views on the environment, "Yes I do want to clean up the environment. I went for a walk in a forest once and there were all these creepy things living in every nook and cranny. Who wants to live on a planet with creepy things. So I promise that when Republicans control the White House and both houses of Congress we will wipe the planet clean. Someday people will be able to take a walk outside and not be bothered by one living thing."

Oh my. Since I think that all animals, all vegetables, and all minerals are my brothers and sisters, I have a very large family. Thank you for the information, dear Agnes.

This number goes down each day with further rapid extinction.

Just think of how wonderful this planet would be with just one less species -- Homo Sapiens!

To Bill K.: Not being a lover of anyone who intends to eliminate millions of species, I'd love to know, just who this Republican Congressman is and where to find more information on this subject.
What type of lunatic, would make such a foolish statement?

Agree with Bill and Dan - actually the globablists also want to reduce the population to the maximum 5 billion people - Donald Trumps words. Others say 2 billion.

@ Dan Holoman. We are doing a good job of getting rid of species, even our own. I wonder how many of the 8.7 million we will take before we completely take our own?

How wonderful and sad at the same time. Wonderful for the diversity. Sad that so many will be extinct before we even knew them. Although I agree with Bill K., I don't see the Democrats doing much for the environment either.
