It was hailed as the scientific study that ended the global warming debate once and for all - the research that, in the words of its director, 'proved you should not be a sceptic, at least not any longer'.Professor Richard Muller, of Berkeley University

If one looks at history, climate change has occurred thru out history (ex.: ice age). HOW did man cause that? Follow the money!! Look at Al Gore -- buying an ocean front cliff house. It has been proven before that the studies FOR climate change have been changed to support the idea. Why should they change now.

There are still "scientists" who dispute evolution as well. No one disputes that the Earth was already in a warming period. What human activity is responsible for is a huge and alarming acceleration of the natural process.

This so stupid and such a waste of time. Climate change or not. . .those inhabiting human forms have trashed and damaged the ecosystems of planet earth beyond their own capabilities of repair and regeneration as a result of violating and dishonoring the natural world. And who on what was once a very green earth. . .would not want to err on the side of caution in such matters. What on earth is wrong with such people??!! What a bunch of misguided nonsensical self-serving maniacal egotist, lazy-brained bio-masses with lost, corrupted or absent souls. It is way past time to grow up and learn to be real human beings...for all life's sake.

"Soon silence will have passed into legend.  Man has turned his back on silence.  Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation... tooting, howling, screeching, booming, crashing, whistling, grinding, and trilling bolster his ego.  His anxiety subsides.  His inhuman void spreads monstrously like a gray vegetation."  ~Jean Arp

"To people who think of themselves as God's houseguests, American enterprise must seem arrogant beyond belief.  Or stupid.  A nation of amnesiacs, proceeding as if there were no other day but today.  Assuming the land could also forget what had been done to it."  ~Barbara Kingsolver

Joe Shults: "Follow the money" is used to refer to tracing the cause of an event
to those who profit from it. Concerns about greenhouse gas-induced climate
change arose in the early 1980's, before Al Gore began to champion the issue.
Thus, the phrase cannot apply to him, but it does apply to elements of the 1%.
The phenomenon of climate change denial arose in response to growing public
awareness that undeniably proven Tyndal gas effect (i.e., the greenhouse gas
effect), which is capable of altering natural atmospheric conditions in substantial
ways, is directly linked to human produced greenhouse gas emissions. What that
meant is that - whatever else MAY be happening to affect global climate - human
activities producing unprecedented amounts of Tyndal gas emissions (rare periods
of intense vulcanism possibly excepted) must contribute to substantial shifts in
the planet's climate. The people and corporations who make lots of money off
greenhouse gas production (Big Oil, for example) naturally couldn't tolerate such
thinking and began shoveling big bucks in the direction of anyone, especially any
scientist, willing to nitpick science endeavoring to better understand how the
Tyndal gas effect is playing out in actual climatological patterns and, especially,
anyone advocating reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. If you "follow
the money," in the usual sense of that phrase, from the denier cottage industry
it leads through verifiable, greenhouse gas industry funded think tanks, speakers
forums, research endowments (enter Judith Curry) and the like, to the people
and corporations that profit from continued production unprecedented amounts
of greenhouse gases.

As to Curry and this article, the Mail is hardly a peer reviewed journal. It
specializes breaking science news in the most sensationalistic, unscientific
way possible and has demonstrated in the past that it has a denier axe to grind.
Curry, originally a conventional climate change researcher, in recent years has
reinvented herself through aggressive self promotion on her multiple websites
as a critic of climate science and scientists to such an extent that one has to
wonder what on earth she was doing listed as a co-author of Muller's paper -
unless institutional policies dictated that acknowledgement. If Curry's story, as
filtered through the Mail, is true, Muller must be mad if.minimally, he failed to vet
his piece with her before its release - unless he realized that she would do all
she could to sabotage the work over policy disagreements, as she has proven
herself wont to do. Even if all that's proven true - and all we have so far are Curry's
allegations as quoted by the notoriously unreliable Mail - one must ask why she
allowed her name to appear on a work she obviously had not read prior to
publication. One might also ask why she chose to assert her claims in an
exclusive interview with one of the most sensationalistic sources available
rather than through normal peer review and academic channels or, at least,
some more respectable mass media outlet. Finally, anyone but an absolutist
denier must ask why, within in days of her scandal-inducing interview she
seems to be backing off her attack on Richard Muller's work on human-
induced climate change.

Of course, those last comments of mine rest on certain assumptions about
both Ms. Curry and the fundamental validity of climate science in support of
the Tyndal gas effect and its general capacity to substantially alter climate. If
everything the Mail asserts that Curry asserts is proven true, then Muller is a
sorry fool and my assumption about Ms. Curry will be proven false, at least in
this instance. Based on the Mail's presentation of her scientific claims, however,
my second assumption will remain unaffected.

Absolutely right, Elle B. Wasting time, distracting attention from the many environmental injuries our carbon-intensive, oil-addicted, industrialism-dependent, chemical-ridden, money-worshipping, ego-bound Franken-cultures inflict, so that the last penny of profit can be squeezed out of the last reserves of fossil fuels on our ravaged planet. It is not a good way to live, even from a purely human-centered perspective. It can and should be changed, for the sake of the planet and for the sake of all of us and our descendants; but it will not be changed as long as the profiteers can distract us with bread, circuses, and pseudo-science.

Besides, climate change is real, it is in some significant part (I believe largely) human-caused, and it is bad for children and other living things. And everyone can do something about it, in some form, on November 6: Support the Keystone XL Pipeline protests.

not all the environmental destruction we are doing is climate change...we still need to address the many ways we are destroying our world...there is no other planet for life...lets save the one we have....

Anyone who denies or doubts Climate Change must be brainless. Just the sheer fact that there are 7 BILLION+ people on the planet consuming, cutting down trees, burning wood, fossil fuels, and garbage, producing pollution, etc. etc. etc. will cause HUGE negative impacts on our planet. We are a MENACE to the health of all other wild living organisms. I have NO IDEA why we evolved or were created as the 'chosen ones'!

Elle B., well said. I would like to add only that I find it incomprehensible that people have such a hard time figuring out that all this pollution and destruction is going to kill us all. Maybe they think if they have enough money they will escape. Maybe they'll just build a bubble to live in so they don't have to see the mess they made. Oh, wait, they've already done that.

Excellent posts, especially by Elle B. It amazes me how these so-called people with brains can think that hiding information won't come out one way or another. I proud of the colleagues that stood up,. Thanks Agnes

Thanks for the info. I think in this day & age we as human beings, would stop lying & start telling the truth about what's happening to our world. When we lie to them, we lie to ourselves & unfortunately there will be nowhere to live any way, no matter how much money we have.
