That's the saddest thing I've heard in a long time. I wish someone would bury the owner alive. See how he likes being under two feet of dirt and rocks!! I hope they prosecute him to the full extent of the law!!

Terrible article. I think I can read what a person is capable of ,then I read another story of what a person is capable of.....and it truly shocks me.

The depth of human cruelty is astonishing. This story made me feel nauseated and Angry! This person (owner) should be sentenced to 5yrs of cleaning cages at the animal Shelter, supervised by Ex-Con Animal Lovers!

If the court decides this person should never own an animal again, I wonder how they will ensure that he won't? It's good that they can impose such a decision, but it does need to be watched.

What words can describe my shock, sadness and anger? This poor, beautiful dog. How could anyone do such a thing? I hope this traumatised, shocked little dog gets better and can live a happy life.
I am deeply grateful to those who realised his horrific situation and got help for him.
I am truly, deeply shocked and distressed by this.

but on the news said :
The owner claimed that he thought the animal had already died when he buried him. However, he has been charged with animal cruelty

He thought the dog was dead. The owner will wish he was DEAD IF WE GET OUR HANDS ON HIM.!!!! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. SOMEONE ASKED WHO THE OWNER WAS, EASY, THE DEVIL, LITERALLY.!!!!!

Why? He needs some prison time, not just never allowed to own an animal again.

They ought to bury the guy who did this alive and see how he likes it.
There is no excuse for not knowing if a dog is alive or dead. They breath and that breathing can be felt by simply placing a hand on the animal's chest or belly and noticing if it moves. There is also putting your ear to their chest to listen for the rapid heartbeat of the dog.

No excuse, no excuse no excuse.

What is wrong with some people?! Do you think some are actually born without a soul, or do they lose it along the way? What could have happened to this person to bring him to these depths? This kind of story just makes me sick. I hope this lovely dog finds a good home.

I'm glad that the dog was found and rescued and that the owner will be tried. I hope that he receives a punishment to fit the crime.

It is sad that this is not an isolated incident and far too many animals suffer in countries all around the world and I'm not just talking about pets. Italy is known for shooting song birds and we know about the animals in the Ukraine and Romania as well as the domestic animals in India and the Middle East. Some of this is poverty and ignorance and some of it is just because they can!

This incident just reflects on how 'dark' a human's heart is.

I am so sorry Jerry had to undergo such a treatment from a fellow species. May he recover and get a home where he will forget his trauma, and lead a good life.

So in Italy you can actually bury an animal alive and you're punishment is that you can't own another animal? Are you kidding me? How did those people who helped that dog not attack the owner? I would have probably been charged with assault and possibly murder.

JANET F. IS RIGHT AND ALL THOSE THAT BELIEVE THIS DISPICABLE ACT NEEDS TO GET PROPERLY PUNISHED. IM NOT AN AGRESSIVE TYPE IN GENERAL BUT CRUEL TORTURE OF THIS KIND TOPS THE S LIST THEREFORE, PUT THE PUNK UNDER THE SAME TREATMENT TILL HE LOOSES COUNSCOIUSNESS, LET HIM RECOVER THEN ASK HIM ON COURT BEFORE HIS LIFE PRISON SENTENCE STARTS IF HE WOULD DO IT AGAIN.....AS SIMPLE AS THAT. THE TREATMENT IS AS CIVILIZED AS THE PUNK AS WAS...

Being charged with animal cruelty is not enough, this Bastard needs the same to be done to him, I'm sure that a lot of people would be willing to stand in line to beat the living S**t out of him, I will be the first and the last one in line!!!!

At least Italy has some serious punishment for this crime. I wonder who else the dog's "owner" has hurt. It's unlikely, given the level of cruelty, that this is the first and only time he's acted out his rage/frustration/anger.

Poor baby, Glad Italy has aniaml laws and found the idiot and cruel owner and glad he is being charge with animal cruelty! Hope the dog makes a safe recovery and that he is adopted to a loving fam. As for the idiot who did this to him, hope you end up in jail, so you can be reminded why u are there. For being a total animal abuser and heartless humane being! Hope he is never, ever allowe to have an animal near him! He is a treat to animals and people!

Lock him in solitary no bigger than a space he would have to squat in, no toilet, no food, no water, no warmth, unable to breathe.... honest, if sentencing was the same to the people who did these hate crimes to animals and others I guarantee there would be less of these crimes happening. Even the Bible said An eye for an eye, A tooth for a tooth.

This makes me sick. There are so many heartless people in this world that take their frustrations out on the weak. To bad we aren't allowed to get rid of these types of people.
