Professor Stephen Hawking is getting an upgrade to the technology that allows him to communicate. But the legendary physicist is fully aware of the implications of improving his own AI software.

It could, but it won't, at least not in the immediate conceivable future; programming a human brain to act as if it was a human brain, reacting to internal and external stimuli would depend on having a knowledge of the human being, brain and HOW it reacts and interacts with itself and its environment, and for that, the jury is not even decided on what the human being/brain is or capable of.

humanity would end with the development of virtual sex programs. No need to sign up for on line dating, or searching for Mr. Right. As for human company- having a computer replace mom's voice, mom's cooking, etc there would be no need to ever get out of bed (cept to pee). Humanity would pleasure itself to death. No need for painful childbirth, no need to wait around 9 months for a baby- grow it in a petrie dish, implant it into a pig uterus.
then again, we could bypass all this and just continuef-king up the planet and end up extinguishing ourselves. we are already on the path by wiping out hundreds of species every year.
