It is hard to believe that Ben Carson is a serious contender for the Republican nomination for POTUS. To have a Republican candidate for president "guilty of being president while being black" is truly mind boggling ...

Why didn't you link to the full article? I hoped there'd be a link in the comment at the end that advises to read the others ... but couldn't find it! Finally, I found one to the original article Ben Carson's Follies: 7 of the Most Stupefying Statements by the GOP's Favorite Neurosurgeon

But is this guy for real?

Thanks, Lynn

'Twould seem the brain surgeon needs a brain surgeon.... his pre-historic brain should be replaced with one that actually thinks with logic and compassion.

1. The doctor is out? Maybe. Or maybe the doctor is in. The closet.

2. Well, yes. We do live in a Gestapo age. Brought to you by your local and national Republican Party.

3. Actually C S Lewis observed a long time ago that an expert is only an expert on his/her own subject. He didn't take that quite as far as my impression, which is that the more arcane the subject, the stupider the expert looks when off of it. Neurosurgery is very arcane indeed.

4, 5, 6, 7 - My comment on #3 reallly says it all.

As long as Carson is willing to be the worst Uncle Tom in history and play the idiot black man at the same time, he'll get reworded at the polls for the entertainment and GOP soundbites he delivers. But not to worry, that doesn't mean Republicans are actually going to vote for him to be the next president. You really don't think the bigoted rabid base is going to color in the little square next to the face of an African-American, do you?

The doctors I've known socially all have a "GOD" complex...they're accustomed to being revered, obeyed, etc.

I think that's what's going on here.

Just because you excel in one area does not necessarily make you an expert at everything else or even adequate.

I agree with Pam W, I think the history of being "world's great neurosurgeon" has made BC think he is god

I'm sorry..just makes me think of the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz singing "If I only had a brain…."

"The World's Greatest Neurosurgeon"? He was able to focus, concentrate, as he had not much else on his mind. Thanks Lynn.

Maybe if the good doctor would smoke some good stuff, instead of trying to make everyone believe as he does, Pat B.! Maybe he would wake up and see the REAL truth in this sometimes presidential race!!

Mitchell D (82)

It may not be what he is, or is not smoking, it may be that he's had too much contact with anesthesia!

He is no more qualified than Donald Trump. A degree in medicine and a business degree, neither of these qualifies either of these candidates for public office.

There are no adjectives negative enough to accurately describe Carson, or my thoughts about him! I shudder to think about the harm this quack may have inflicted on his patients who believed he possessed a brilliant mind! Heck, maybe Ben Carson is just plain POSSESSED.

I truly am mystified that this fool gets any support at all, apart from that he might get from his bed were he strapped to it as he should be. He shouldn't be allowed out in public by himself. The mystery of how he got through medical school is overwhelming since he doesn't really believe anything he learned there - like how the human body has evolved over time. The only part of his thinking that I agree with is that there is no evolution but only to the extent that it applies to him. I don't doubt he has not learned a thing during his lifetime. I think he is a clear and present danger to himself, let alone the body politic.

Any Black individuals who calls him-/herself a "RepubliKLAN" is either an Uncle Tom or an Aunt Tommette; cases in point: Ben Carson and Condoleeza Rice! Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm. . .I wonder what his skill as an actual brain surgeon is like. . .?

I understand that he had half a mind not to run, so he put it back in the jar. If anything his position as a brain surgeon among the current GOP candidates it is like they are off to see the Wizard of Oz, you have the scare crow, the cowardly lion and the Tin man with Carly Fiorina trying to be Dorothy but really coming out as the wicked witch as I am pretty sure she would melt if some water got on her. In the country of the blind the one eyed man may be king but in this sorry lot all bets are off as it is little more than a no rules knife fight.

The Repukelicans are just trying to show they're "diverse". They will never run either a woman, or Black person, for President. They think they are fooling the constituencies of Women and Black people.
Only the hard-core Religious Right of both groups, will let themselves be fooled and used this way.

Recent Polls show Planned Parenthood is more popular with Voters than the GOP! The hard-core Religious Right is as powerful as it is, because they have been WELL-ORGANIZED to achieve power for several decades, and have worked at it. With enormous financial backing, that helps of course. But as far as the numbers of Voters, they don't have it. But, watch out - they are WELL-ORGANIZED TO WIN BY CHEATING, in several different ways... as they MUST KNOW it's the ONLY way they ever win anything... so WATCH OUT.
