6. The Supreme Court’s taking on King v. Burwell: Should not have been heard in the Supreme Court in the first place.

5. Hillary Clinton’s damn emails: Should have been a non-issue as her servers were legal per federal laws at that time. Another reference from the Benghazi debacle as the GOP were trying to tear her reputation apart.

4. Kim Davis’ 15 minutes of fame: An ugly woman who should have been fired from her job for failing to do it.

3. Ben Carson’s deep thoughts: Ben's "deep thoughts" are not worthy for press coverage as his brain has gone away in the manner of delusions of grandeur.

2. Joe Biden’s crypto-presidential campaign: Joe had a hard time deciding on a run for POTUS with his son's wish for Joe to run as Beau laid dying.

1. Donald Trump’s ascendance: Non-intelligent people being wooed with hate, racism, xenophobia in support for Trump because of their own personal frustrations with USA's job losses, pay along with many other cuts in civil rights. Trump is playing to the crowds in the worst possible way unheard of in politics.

These are not, by far, the worst moments from the year 2015.

The single worst moment in politics in 2015 was the year 2015.

I think such moment was when we realized that Trump's mother should have had an abortion!

It's impossible to point out the worst moments in politics in 2015, because there were just too many. No wonder Alternet author Elias Isquith chose the total rise of Donald Trump, which combines six months of worst moments into one major catastrophe. I think many of us feel the same dread when his name is mentioned: just the thought of this man in the White House makes us reach for a barf bag or, if possible, a passport; the worst thing about the vision being the knowledge that so many people will consciously and willingly vote for him and make 2016 even a worse year than 2015.

The irony of Donald Trump is that much like a school bully he is only dominating the Republican through his attacks: savaging opponents for the merest transgressions against his ego. His ascendancy is not due to his business acumen, intelligence or even his morals with a combination of casual racism and a level of creepiness rarely seen since the Emperor Tiberius demonstrated what he liked small children to do. As for all the partisan hi-jinx seen over the year from the admission that Benghazi was really the fault of budget cuts and that Hilary Clinton's 12 hour interrogation over her emails resulted in her looking magnanimous whilst the Republicans looked petty. If anything it is business as usual.

I agree with Joanne, 2015 was extra bad, in and of itself. Donald Trump's rise from the primordial ooze, like much of what has happened this year, is acting as a mirror to show the American public just what we have become. It's pretty darn scary.
