The Japanese killing machine - The 8,145-ton vessel MV Nisshin Maru is the primary vessel of the Japanese whaling fleet and is the world's only whaler factory ship. It is also the largest member, and flagship of the five-member whaling fleet, headed by research leader Shigetoshi Nishiwaki. Wikipedia
There is no research involved, it's all about processing whale meat and shipping it off to America and other countries for/as "sushi" !

Noted and signed. I watched dvd of Wild Ireland yesterday with Colin Stafford-Johnson, wildlife film maker. If anyone get the chance to buy this please do, his encounters with whales/sharks and other fellow creatures is truly magical and caring. His commentary is inspirational and hopeful.
