The Silly Secret About Chicken McNuggets

Proust had his madeleines to evoke the taste of childhood; those of us born after the atomic age have chicken McNuggets. Turns out the little poultry bites are made of the same stuff that goes into Silly Putty!

I figured this out a while ago (the food). I don't eat fast food, however, our McD's always seems crowded. Shame that folks don't read the side of the boxes or lunches they purchase, before they indulge. And..that goes for the children too. There are a lot of ingredients that are out there and are in all kinds of foods. Eat lots of veggies, and fruit, and drink water. That's MY best bet. TY, Barb for this article. (I'm sending this one on)...

We would be shocked at the things that are ALLOWED to be in food that are APPROVED of by the FDA.

Lois K (24)

Isn't tBHQ banned in some countries? It should be banned everywhere. I'm quite sure that humans aren't meant to ingest anything derived from petroleum. This is one of many reasons why Americans are so sick and obese--not only are they eating too much animal fat, they are eating it laced with chemicals that our bodies did not evolve to deal with. There is nothing to be gained by patronizing fast-food places.

Noted! Somehow, and sadly, this is not surprising. McDonald's has always been on my list of things to avoid for sometime because of animal cruelty, but this just is even more ridiculous and pathetic; it just gives me another reason to hate that place. I am so glad that I stay away from there.

Thanks for the info about chicken nuggets. After what I have read about McDonalds on other websites it grossed me out enough to not want to ever eat Mcdonalds again. I didn't know this though, and it just topped it all off I won't ever eat it again!!!!!!!!!

The FDA is underfunded and understaffed. America needs to pass some real laws against selling food-like substances instead of real food. Someday, if we don't completely kill our planet and our grandchildren survive, they'll look back at this time and wonder how stupid people were to eat such crap.

Wednesday June 30, 2010, 11:13 pm

Even though I've always thought the stuff was recycled plastic I'm perplexed and confused if it is, why they need to be so cruel to chickens or is that a front to placate big oil! That'll be a big fries a portion of food poisoning and animal cruelty with a can of carbonated toxic chemicals please!

That humans still hold other creatures prisoner in horrible conditions for the mere taste of flesh is a LOT worse in my mind than an admission by corporations that whatever they peddle is garbage.

Gag! I have been on permanant MickeyD's Boycott for the past 2 decades. Not changing my mind in the future either~!

Think about it.....the obesity rate for children and adults, and all the diabetes and ADD that's been going on ....IT'S THE FOOD!!! it's NOT food anymore. All the chemicles, GMO's and additives they put into fast food (and processed food in supermarkets), it's a wonder most people aren't dead by now.

This article just reinforces the notion that no company or corporation can or should be trusted, especially agri-business. Thanks Barb!

Buddhist Prayer for Those Suffering and for Liberation of Brother and Sister Animals. May all sentient beings in the animal realm subject to unbearable pain in labs throughout the world be free from suffering. May alternatives to animal experimentation and testing be used immediately. May Bodhicitta fill the hearts of those who imprison them. May all sentient beings from the animal realm who suffer endless days, months, years locked in tiny cages unable to move, be filled with peace and calm. May the many billions waiting in slaughterhouse lines be free of fear. May the hearts of those who work in abattoirs be filled with Bodhicitta so the very thought of harm is purified. May they never kill again and may the slaughterhouse lines become immediately empty. May no animal be afraid or depressed. May their bodies be free of injuries, disease and illness. May those who need homes, or who have been driven from them find shelter, plentiful food & water. May there be liberation for those tortured for fur, entertainment or who are hunted. May those who believe they are superior to our brother & sister animals develop perfect equanimity. And may they realise in their hearts that all sentient beings possess Buddha nature And they are not ours to kill or exploit. May the many billions of land and sea dwelling sentient beings who are abused, exploited and killed due to greed, hatred and ignorance be free of suffering May they experience complete and perfect enlightenment, through the virtue of my efforts and prayers. May I be a voice for the voiceless. In short, may all human and non-human sentient beings live together in harmony, peace and equanimity and achieve perfect Enlightenment quickly.
